I wasn't seriously arguing or even arguing at all. I was simply stating that the stock tranny can hold up to the abuse if driven right and Alberto decided that I was attempting to denigrate his imaginary build. Can you find where I was even remotely offensive to Alberto or his "possible" build?

I'll let Mike answer about it's current state. Last time he was here it had full interior including leather seats, plus a cage. Probably weighs more than stock

Ive been contemplating keeping my Z, and eventualy rebuilding and TRYING to make the 6 speed work under my driving as a drag car. I doubt it would hold up...

the "arguing" comment was a generall comment and didn't mean exactly you. It was towards all the angry serious threads created. I was just pointing out that i'm here for fun. i'll pm you so we don't take over this thread.

Hal is correct. I'm sure it weighs even more now since I've "got the big head"! It's so encouraging to finally have some good runs. I was already feeling bad for Hal and Greg because they have truly tried to steer me down the correct path the last couple years. By the way, the local shop in Chattanooga that did the custom twin 62 setup (and a whole lot more) is Intune Motorsports. I've been with them the last year and they deserve the credit.

There were a lot of PMs about the 60ft. It goes without saying that you need HP and torque, but the Haltech(2 step), new 28" MT vs 26", and the CLUTCH made it all happen.

Default Binder- Pictures

Binder,

Here are three low resolution jpgs of the car. The high res photos are about 2.5MB each, if you want them.

Let's recap first because obviously certain things eluded you the first time around. You imply that the stock 6MT can't hold up to YOUR driving/abuse to which I reply, then you tell me I know nothing about your goals. I was responding to the part of your post where you talked about the stock tranny, not about the part where you're contemplating on whether to rebuild or not (which I don't care for). I'm not sure why you felt the need to get defensive, but it's unnecessary and at the same time, almost comical.

"TRYING to make the 6 speed work under YOUR driving?" What is it about your style of drag racing that you think the tranny can't hold up when two different shops' drag Zs with much more power have been doing fine with the stock tranny? What makes you think your shifting is so much harder/faster than rest of us lowly drag racers' that the tranny will give up (which is what you were implying)? If you weren't implying that, then I apologize, but then what I said about you needing to adjust your style to reduce the chance of breaking parts still applies. Thus, no harm done.

Let's be honest here. There aren't many "styles" of drag racing. I mean how hard is drag racing, really, and how much can it differ? Most of the serious drag racers shift at around the similar speed with similar force. The difference between individuals can only be so much when given the fact that the throw of each shift is limited by such small distance. Don't let your internet fame get to you.

Even if we assume that you were to drastically build up your engine, I highly doubt it'll reach and surpass the levels that the two aforementioned Zs are at, considering there's barely a handful with numbers anywhere near those. Prove me wrong with your "possible" build, if you think your "possible goals" can reach and exceed those levels then I'll retract my statement about the stock tranny holding up, which isn't and shouldn't be offensive in any way whatsoever to begin with.

Did you miss the fact that I said nothing about knowing everything or did you think honestly your response was actually funny enough to be posted to stray even more off-topic?
In alberto's defense, It's all about torque cycles. SPs trans sees maybe 10 1/4 mile passes a year? I don't know how many hard miles Hal has put on his car (but I doubt it's anywhere near what Alberto or I have put on our cars), after 2.5 seasons of beating the crap out of my setup with mid 400s to the wheel I had my third gear engagement ring separate from the main gear under normal out of boost acceleration. Our street cars that are driven A LOT and beat on A LOT see many more torque cycles than high HP drag cars do, thus the stress on drivetrain parts over time is much greater regardless of power level.

That is why I upgraded my third and fourth gears to support long term abuse.

Was out of town a few days, came back and read the thread to my entertainment. He doesnt truly understand "shop" cars dont get driven on the street as often as us "regualr abusers". Regardless of more whp, the overall abuse isnt as much or as OFTEN.

That is no discredit to the shops like Injected and SP, they know I respect the $hit out of them.

I dont usually bother with him, he is a know it all mod, who lashes out when he doesnt get attention online like he feels he should. Usually toward me, as can be seen in other posts/threads.

Mike Edens, sorry for the hijack, that pic of your Z launching is NASTY, keep up the good work. You are an OG in pushing the limits of the Z down the 1320

Hal's car was just recently finished, but I do know he does drive his car quite a bit. It isn't a "shop" car or a "drag" car. He has probably put a couple thousand miles on it around the time he ran the 9 sec 1/4 time, driving to and from Louisville (70 miles each way). I have been with him on numerous occasions and every mile he puts on the car is a hard mile. I don't think he ever lifts his foot

Mike,

Thanks for the high res. I will frame it and have Hal send you a signed copy (just kidding), but thank you.

I'm just saying drive your car for a couple of seasons, and tens of thousands of miles with many WOT pulls and see how your 3rd gear engagement ring holds up.
