Default Advice on preloading a Manual...

as the title says...does anyone have some good advice for preloading a manual transmission at the drag strip.

From what I know, its just depressing the clutch just a slight bit while staged. Is there a better way?

thanks

Approach the lights and deep stage as much as you can (i.e. just barely move up enough to light the second set of lights). Pull the e-brake and then inch forward - that loads the drive train. You can do what you want from there, but I hold the e-brake up until the green light illuminates.

I do the exact same thing. As you bring the revs up be careful not to roll through the lights.

Haha. Just to keep the car from moving after preloading the drivetrain so that I don't bust anything!

Do you also use a 2-step feature? If so does that play into your loading up at the line at all? My 2-step is activated when either the clutch is depressed or the brake pedal. I do however have a brake cut-off (Pin 101) switch in place, but my 2-step cuts the power, even when ONLY the clutch depressed. It holds the power down until the clutch is fully released. Then after releasing the clutch completely it allows me to boost as high as I want (based on adjustable boost setting).
I guess its a ProEFI fail safe.

On my friggin' last run, yes, I did move and red lit by -0.081s. Why can't there be a small channel to hold one of the tires staged there to keep one from rolling? Stupid inclined track (or stupid front-heavy car or stupid wind). Shall I go on? I have 1000 excuses queued up.

How about stupid driver?? I thought you were one of those heel and toe experts. I think it was the wind that night.
