Default First time at the strip

I don't think I did very well but I eventually got into the range I was hoping for.

This was my first time with a MT car and my first time out with the Z.

I made a total of 6 passes starting at a HORRIBLE 16.179@78.56 mph. On that run I missed 2nd, 4th, and coasted the rest of the way after missing 4th. It was beyond embarrassing haha.

I gradually got better making a final run of:

R/T: .163
60': 2.215
330: 6.190
1/8: 9.439
MPH: 75.44
1000: 12.190
1/4: 14.509
MPH: 96.73

I didn't mess with tire pressure or anything. I just tried different rpm launches and shift points. On the final run I was shifting at around 6700 rpm and I launched at 3800 rpm-ish with some small wheelspin and clutch slippage from the get-go.

Thanks for the read!

shifting with too much aggression can result in mis-shifts.. try shifting calmly and smoothly..

and if i were you i would run that engine all the way to redline.. this isn't a turbo car where your powerband jumps off a cliff..

Thank you for the advice! I'll definitely remember that when I'm out there next.

Any other advice would be greatly appreciate. I feel like I should be running a bit quicker than that. Driver definitely needs practice haha

I give all new racers two thumbs up for effort. Everyone is a hot dog racer until they get to the dragstrip. The ET computer pays no attention to bragging.

That said practice and you will get better. Next time you will run 14.3 seconds them 14.1 seconds and so one.

Unfortunately 90 percent of drag racers never put forth the time and effort needed to make our Top-25.

Thank you! I really want to get better. I don't know if I'll ever be in the Top-25 but I definitely want to be better than the average driver.

Not too bad of a time for a beginner. I would definitely shift higher to redline. You should be easily over 100mph for a trap speed, especially with your mods. Its tough the first time out. There can be a lot of pressure to do well. Next time out, relax, play some music you like, and just enjoy yourself. Your times will definitely improve. Good luck

I went with some members from the forum and we just went to have a good time. There was some competitiveness but it was all in good fun. I was definitely nervous haha. When I first pulled up to stage I felt like I was going to stall the car due to how much my foot was shaking on the clutch lol.

I appreciate the advice! I'm hoping to go out again this coming weekend.
