Default Just for Fun

Just for fun I went to the local Mustang Dyno and made some 1/4 mile passes on my lunch break. It was pretty fun but these cars heat up quickly! I obviously don't have a time slip but the car went 12.38@125mph with a 2.00 60 ft. This is a load based dyno and he has had a few customers that have reported very accurate comparisons between his dyno and the track (like within a .15 on E.T and .04 on MPH.

Problem was my car spun badly in 1st and 2nd even ratcheted down as you can see the smoke coming from the tires in the video. The dyno operator said it was the worse wheel spin he had seen on a 1/4mi pass on his dyno. The trap speed is indicative of what the car can do though so I am eager to put some good tires on it and see. The current tires for anyone following my build thread are Nitto NT555 285-40/18 street tires, not the drag radials. Looks like I will be investing in some MT Street Radials II in the near future which I knew but just wanted to see what the best time I could do in street trim would be.

There were two fans. A small one right in front of the Intercooler. I think that is some sort of optical illusion because it was faster than that. Maybe the frame rate of camera phone.

I would feel uneasy banging gears with a wall in front of me.

seems as if there was a magical place that people warned of having no traction on regular street tires......if only we could find that place....

LOL! Its all in good fun. I have been drag racing all of my life and I know to do the very best requires traction. But isn't there a little of this in everyone that wants to see how good they could do even on street tires? I have decided on MT ET Street Radial IIs but haven't ordered them yet.

Honestly I thought even with street tires on the dyno since its ratcheted down it would do better but it didn't. Still made for an interesting lunch hour

And here will be my perspective on Saturday at the track -

ya, that is kind of odd.

I put down 560tq and 545hp a couple months ago before i did my high boost pulls and on the mustang i had 245 avon tires from my stock rim setup. No wheel spin at all.

Was this a 1/4 mile run on the dyno or 5th gear power pull? Mines don't spin in 5th gear. Just first and second and a little of third on the dyno.

3rd gear and 4th. With 245 street tires my car will spin them through 5th gear easily.

Doing a 5th gear on the dyno is a waste. Hp isn't changed so why stress the engine any harder than it should be. I've done back to back different gear pulls with no change in hp or tq.
