Last two posted said what I didn't want to bother saying. We who have HR's start out even. A little common sense separate many.
Solve traction, cause gears will put more instant power & compoud problem. Then figure out what gear ratio will not force you to shift into fourth. Once you figure out how to do 1.7's/1.8's 60' then choose between what the second poster suggested or a even higher gear ratio like 3:90/4:10 & use the entire rpm band of the 4th gear. Some thought, understanding & patiance will get you a nice 12 second car.

Thanks man

You started with a good time slip & high mph. That was with what looked like very poor traction. So instead of improving your traction & seeing where you stand, your are now looking at gears. I won't waist my time telling you that you're taking the get nowhere route, that is so very common with the members of this forum.
Not a wise guy, probably a pretty intelligent guy who lacks reading comprehension, no worries though, i did say first order of business is wheels and tires.

Definitely the plan

Nice runs BTW
Thanks for the tips, I'll definitely take this into consideration

I know that's a slow track, but it's driving that caused those horrible numbers. My stock GTI can run mid 14's at Commerce.

SGMP is a great track. I ran my old stock 07 Z there when it was still green, managing 13.2's at over 107.

So I should be picking up wheels and tires tonight assuming everything fits, what all will light up when I pull the brake light fuse? Will this hurt anything or cause me any issues? I read someones car freaked out and he couldnt launch it..? Anything I should be worried or cautious about?

No when you pull the fuse your slip, abs and TC light will be on. You will not have brake lights so don't forget to reinstall the fuse and check before you leave the track.

The lights will turn off once you replace the fuse and drive a little I think over 10-15mph.

Have fun and good luck hopefully you will hit 12's you have the trap speed to do it just need the seat time.

Make sure you pull the fuse with the car in neutral otherwise you wont be able to shift out of park.

Thanks man! We're going to install a switch and try to get to SGMP this weekend.

When I install a switch, can I use the switch while the car is in drive to kill the fuse? Or do i have to put it into neutral first? Im assuming as long as its not in park it'll be fine?

Thanks guys

BTW I tried on a 15x10 race star wheel on the Z and it just wouldnt fit. Far too wide, was hitting everything in there.

So I picked up a buddy of mine's 17in mustang wheels wrapped in nitto555r's instead. Should have no issue with them since he had ran the same things on his mach1 and did pretty good at gainsville with them

Default Best of luck & have fun

Good to see drag racing coming back to the forum.

Drag racing is the most affordable car racing. It is American.

Well the other day when testing fitting new wheels (which i picked up!), I decided to pull the fuse. After getting it wrong twice lol I finally got it. No lights on my dash came on, now I didnt drive it around or anything this was just in my garage, and it was definitely the right fuse because my brake lights werent working. Is this normal for the lights to not come on? Should be installing the switch here pretty soon since im on spring break

The one I pulled was near the footplate under the steering wheel. That too wasnt the easiest as you have to kinda lay on your side and or back all awkward lol

ohhh lol ok , I know that position is awkward just from adjusting the clutch pedal.
The fuse I pull disables my power steering and my speedometer which in turn also disables the odometer. Sounds illegal now that I think about it, but at least I can do a burn out now haha

Why not just pull the one in the car and not have that issue at all?

Haha true that. Hopefully I'll be installing a switch soon enough so those days will be over.

which one do you pull exactly? a pic would be cool. Ive never done it at the track, last time I went I forgot which one it was lol so I ran without doing a burnout of any sort.
Im going to be installing a switch in the location where the TCS and VDC buttons are on cars that have them, on mine theyre just blank
