Default Just purchased a beltronics Vector FX-1

Whats up everyone, i just got my FX-1 in from circuit city, this little toy is amazing. im not sure how acurate it actually is, but if it is correct. i ran

1/8th mile 8.95
1/4 mile 13.6 at 106.5 mph

even if the numbers are off, it's still a cool toy to have in the car, leaving it on the G-METER is always fun around corners,

i thought the numbers were way off, but what is weird is that i was watching my digital speedometer and i stopped accelerating as soon as i hit 107 mph, so the speed is very acurate, my 0-60 was 5.2, now, my car is not stock, i have full length intake, invidia exhaust, 18" HPRACING wheels. and running 255/35/18 Goodyear Eagle F1's. is it just me or do the numbers sound a little low. i am pretty happy if the are correct, also the road was perfectly flat 4 lane newly paved.

i am going to put it my room-mate's M3 on saturday and see what he can run. i'll post nubmers then,

if anyone is thinking of getting one, spring for the FX-2, i'll probably take mine back, only difference is that you can downlod data to a computer with the FX-2. i can do that with my FX-1
but i still like the little thing

I think your Beltronics FX-1 and your speedo are both about 5% optimistic on measured speed. I'd only trust the accelerometer if it read ~100mph when you are indicating 106.5mph. Speedos are always a little bit optimistic. Still a fun toy to play with. And you can always try to calibrate it at a drag strip or something.

Link to this toy? I'd be curious to use it for the g-force meter.

here is a link for the FX-2, which i would recommend, you can download info to a computer with that one, but if you want to go cheap and don't care about linking to computer, than the FX-1 is a lot cheaper. i have to admit, i went out of gas a lot quicker on this last tank from testing out 0-60 and 1/8th at all the redlights. (out redlights are far apart)

This is the same as the Escort G-Timer (not just similar, but the same thing under a different name), so if you are familiar with that device, you'll know this one as well.

I agree that the -2 version is cooler.

I think the trap speeds from the G-timers will always be a little fast, because they take the instantaneous speed @ the end of the 1/4, but the tracks take the average speed over the last 100'. So if you do go to the track, don't be surprised if your times are very close but your trap speeds are a couple MPH apart.

well, i would be happy with my time at a 1/4 mile track, too bad there is only an 1/8 here, and it's horrible.
