I have an '04 350Z with the 3 year std warranty expiring in 2 weeks time. Car has done 50,000km.
My dilemma is whether to pay approx $2,000 (inc. taxes) for a 2year 100,000km extended warranty. So far, car has been an absolute gem, no warranty issues, just needed regular servicing.
I am only planning to keep the car another 6-9 months and then will need to sell the car for cash due to an overseas move.
There is no doubt that trying to sell a 350Z with an extended Nissan warranty is easier than one without any warranty and this is really the only reason I would buy it. But, do you think I would get my money back? Since the cost of the warranty is even higher after the original warranty expires, I need to make up my mind quickly. I'm struggling to make a decision on this one.

The extended warranties aren't always what they seem. No way would I pay $1000 more for your car if it had an extended warrenty unless it was as good as the original. Read the fine print. Dealerships often make as much on selling warranties as they do on the car. I'd reccomment against it based on your situation. Your peace of mind is something else. Only you can judge.

If you're keeping the Z, definitely get it!
Mine came with the original owner's purchase. and by god.. it is damn useful.
Replaced the following so far:
Transmission
Fuel shutter valve
Fuel hose damper
Fuel level sensor (twice)
Hatch shocks (had to go there twice because the idiot mechanics reversed the brackets and almost damaged my hatch)
other misc stuff... all free of charge because of warranty. and that's more than $1000 of the warranty's worth.

I would say that your car has been a gem for its 3 years. And you are leaving in 6-8 months is to save your money and sell the car 6-8 months instead of getting a extended warranty and throwing that money away. If your car really needs a repair in 6 months it shouldn't be something major and you can get away fixing it for much less than 2k.
