The Useless East Canada thread!
well wait til I am done and see if it wll be worht it.
Yes I technically have 216 pounds off the car.
But without any effort last year I figure I was able to remove the passenger seat, 46 pounds, spare 36 pounds, tools, ~ 7 pounds, carpets, ~ 4 pounds, and I had ENkeis about 30 pounds. And all of that was totally reversible.
That's 123 pounds of no damage weight. ART pipes would have been 12.2 pounds anyways for 135 pounds.
So despite destroying my car so far I have only really saved 81 pounds

Racecar land is a 1-way trip. I tried to convince myself otherwise, and held onto every bolt and piece of plastic I pulled out for almost 2 years. Then I realized I would rather buy another Z than put mine back together, and to the dumpster it went
I think I am going to gut my rear hatch this winter too. I was looking at it yesterday and there is a lot of useless metal there. I figure if I install hood pins, I can get rid of quite a bit of crap back there. The front hood can be just a metal skin on hinges, so why make the rear any different.

12.2 pounds shaved off today in the form of swapping out the OEM cats for MD ART pipes.
= 216.2 pounds total weight loss
= 170.2 pounds competition weight loss
Nice to see these numbers keep stacking up over the winter.
I technically started taking off the sound deadening as well with a hammer and chisel, works pretty well, but leaves residue. I don't want to weigh it til I get it all in the bag.

Ya CSCS street class means OEM doors, dash, fenders and glass.
Almost done the front drivers. Such a pain compared to the rear. There so much sealer. The passenger side doesn't seem to be so bad, hopefully have both done by next weekend.

lol at adding 19 pounds.
what are you using to get the stuff off Rob?
My hammer and chisel is working, but, its slow going.

the front is a hammer/scraper, then a wire wheel to get rid of the left over parts. Theres so much seam sealer for no reason and it just causes problems.
This is where I am at with the driver, I would guess another hour and a vacuum and it will be done. Hopefully going in for my seat mount next week sometime if the weather holds good.
I got thinking of the 10:1 lb/whp mentioned. That would be tough in a 350 DE. I think I may be able to squeeze 240whp this year but there is no way I can see 2400lbs. 2700 bone dry maybe.
Needs to rev higher. Its begging for 7000+, but I don't think the bearings will enjoy it.

yeah getting close to 10lbs/1hp is even harder for the DE
even me I doubt very much to get it with the VHR ... the best I did on SGM dyno was 324 . I might gain a few whp with the next possible custom exhaust (missing funds)
that is with an oversize MAF tube / throttle body /step LTH / custom x-pipe and straight free flow exhaust in 2.5''
My X-pipe doesnt seem to be setup like it should so I think I could gain some from there ...
but that is $$$$
so I might just focus on aero & cooling stuff !

Sometimes I think to myself. I shoulda just bought a C6Z06 and thrown some race pads and Hoosiers on it. Then I think, naw, that would be dumb.

I can't drive the Z to its full potential as it is, why would I want another 250hp to deal with :P
I think the Z is a good platform to learn on as well as grow with. Its not impossible to drive quick, but still is a chassis that can be pushed quite fast. I was between this and an S2000 when I bought it and am glad I took this. I don't think I will go to something else until I can afford a specific race series (like CTCC or something).

I only wish CSCS would make more Time Attack and also use Shannonville
the only place ive seen CSCS go was either Cayuga or Mosport DDT
I really hate DDT . Cayuga is far but I like the track
as for Shannonville its only at 3 hours drive which is good and my favorite affordable track to ride on.

I like SMP a lot too, but for me the 3hr drive is TOO far (TMP being less than an hour, MIR being less than 2).
Ontario Time Attack will be running SMP on June 9/10th on pro and long tracks this year. Ill be there, and its a pretty good crowd (no naked ladies, but some pretty experienced guys). You also get an instructor in the morning of both days and much more track time (3 timed runs vs 1)

Thats the end of my sales pitch :P
