That explains a lot, I usually throw in about 62-64L, full tank is 74.

I get about 500 to 550 km per tank, mostly city driving.

If you plan to drive th Z in the winter, ie. like me, make sure you get a Z with VDC. It will help in winter because you know when the car is skidding during acceleration.

Also get a set of good winter tires (Bridgestone LM22, LM25, Dunlop M3, Michellin Pilot Alpin) on a separate set of rims. Please get some rims, don't put them on steelies, it makes the Z look really cheap.

Last but not least a set of winter mats. Then you are all set for winter and some snow drifting.

If you are buying a used Z, do some research in the forums about tire feathering (03-05 model years) and oil consumption (on 06 model year).

Good luck.

remember the thing about driving a RWD...be easy on the throttle. You'd be surprised how easy it is to make your tail swing in winter

74 L X 7.9 L/ 100 km = theorhetical top distance of 936 km.
We should attempt this cruise! I've actually averaged lower than 7.9L/100 km on long trips so who knows how far we could push the envelope?
In the spring lets have a 1000 km challenge!

how'd you get 7.9 L / 100 km's? i remember when i had my stock z, the average highway consumption i got was 9.5-10.

It depends on what speed you cruise at on the highway, I cruise at 105-110, and am likely getting 7.9 or better. In the past, I used to cruise at 140-150 and probably did not get anywhere near 7.9

Yeah, cruising just under 110. Also, on the roads from Petawawa to london, many of the roads have an 80km/ h limit. So I would just set cruise to 95 and would get massive fuel economy.

So to recap. Petawawa to London was about 630 km. 360 km of this on the 401. I'd cruise at 95 on the back raods, and at 110 on the 401. I would use about 2/3 or 3/4 of a tank. Once to see how far I could get I began cruising back the other way without filling up on a Sunday. Once I got back to Toronto (roughly 140km) I had to fill up again out of fear that I would be stuck in traffic. But I easily topped 850 km on that round trip without filling up.
