You are supposed to ride the first oil change (on a new car) for a longer period of time to cause rings to wear, valves to seat etc. Don't change it early wait till the 6000k is up. Then you can change it earlier than normal if you would like. The first oil change is ment to cause wear on the engine.
Reality350, I think you may be referring to a built motor (aftermarket) where you wanna change it out after 500km because of all the builders grease/lube thats on the cams, arp studs etc... This is already taken care of on a factory motor so you don't wanna change it early like a freshly re-built motor.

Hard break-in and an almost immediate oil change will take out any shavings/particles that may have found its way into the oil.
I also will only use Dino-oil for the first 2-3 changes.
-1992 Camry v6, 380k km.. never lost a drop of oil..
-1996 Plymouth Grand Voyageur, 260k km.. never lost a drop of oil
-2005 35th anny 350z v2 motor, 5000miles.. never lost a drop of oil (my previous engine would loose 1.5ltr's in less then 600 miles - I bought used)
-2008 Accord.. Same method used, we will see how it goes.
Everyone is different

keep an eye on your oil level, top it up if needed. these engines will use up some oil while breaking in.
imo people fail to realize this and run into problems later on for "expecting" this to be maintenance free till the first service
i followed the break in from the owners manual (first new car for me), iirc i used up about .5l just babying the engine

Any 5w-30 that meets the standards stated in the owners manual. Most oils are compatible when mixing, should say on the back.
I think the my dealership used Quaker state bulk oil for doing oil changes
