Default importing 07-08 350z

Just wondering if anyone on here has imported an 07/08 into Canada. If so what exactly had to be done to the Electronic Immobilization System and how did you go about the child restraints. Just trying to get a cost est. as i'm looking at buying from the states since the 07/08's are still so much cheaper there then up here.

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks!

hey, i just imported my Z. Get the 07's because alot of them do not require the immobolization system because of the manufacturer's date. All you need is drls which cost $50 by doing a relay with the parking/fog lights.

There are no issues with the engine immobilizer and child restraints, so don't worry about them. You will have to do the DRL mod though. I ended up getting the Nissan dealer to do it due to lack of time. The only issue was it messes up the interior lighting if you have the stock navi. The screen doesn't go into 'night mode' and the lights for the radio backlit are dimmer if the headlights aren't on.

Fairly minor issue and only applies if the DRL system is on. If you remove the fuse for the DRL, then the lighting is normal.

All in all, importing the car was pretty easy. I wouldn't suggest doing it now though, with the Canadian-US dollar conversion rate.

ya but again canada has high tariffs so you'll still be able to save 3-4 g's. I bought the car when the exchange rate was "1.3" and still managed so save some decent money and thats just shows how **** of a country Canada is.

ya i was gonna say, out here in alberta 07/08's are still in the low-mid 30k range for one with lower mileage, where as I can get one from the states even with the exchange rate and taxes for mid 20's (for a base/enthusiast)

oh and another quick question, did the warranty transfer up here with the vehicle for those that have brought one up?

I would recommend that before purchasing your vehicle, you get the VIN and contact Nissan Canada to verify that your warranty is indeed transferable. Not NNA -Nissan North Amercia, which only serves the US.

Also, buyer beware -when purchasing from the US. Vehicle history is very hard to track through some states.

Good Luck!
