Exclamation Helping the Children of Haiti: Paying it forward

Hi All,

My friends and I are planning to ship a large amount of childrens clothing to Haiti (Mid Feb). The response so far, has been overwhelming, but we still need more. If you have or know of anyone who would like to donate any spare children's clothing, please let let me know. I am willing to pick up almost anywhere in the GTA (within 1.5 hours drive). If you would like to donate $, that would also be great as our groups personal expenses will be covering shipping, packaging and the cleaning of all clothing.

Like most, we have a hard time believing that the charitable organizations out there really put 100% towards helping those in need. So my circle of friends have taken the liberty to initiate our own "care package".
Know that everything donated will go directly to those in need

We already have the shipping, packaging companies on board and are currently searching for a facility that will work with us to clean all the clothing before prepping them for shipment. If anyone here can help with this regard, it would be greatly appreciated.

We all live privileged lives and can pick and choose when to "pay it forward".... perhaps we as a small group, can bring some semblance of happiness back to at least a small % of the children affected.

Thanks everyone.

*Tax receipts will be provided upon request.*

Wow awesome, that is great of you guys!

General question, so childrens clothing only? I just cleaned out my closet and dropped it off at Good Will but I'm sure I'm the only one on here that had/has old but good clothes hanging in my closet that they would be willing to donate.

Hi,
You are absolutely correct.. Any clothing or support you could provide would be greatly appreciated.. I did forget to mention that we will also be accepting non-perishable food items.

Just a reminder that I will pick up anywhere in the GTA and even up to1.5 hrs away.

Thanks in advance for any support you can provide.

Cheers,
Church

This is a great idea! People over there are in deperate need of food and clean water. Can we donate bottled water or water purification tablets?

Also who will the supplies be shipped to? And who will ensure they get into the right hands?

Atlas freight and forwarding will be handling the shipping. They already have containers leaving this month, but we were unable to make that deadline.

-Sending water would be a great idea, however we have a limited budget set out for shipping and packaging, so we would like to keep the weight as low as possible while still being able to ship as many items as possible.

-The items will be distributed at the airport to any and all aid groups who request it.

You asked how we will know its getting into the right hands?
-Just know that once it gets to haiti, it will reach the people.. and really that's all we are trying to accomplish.

For those that have replied and pm'd me.. I am sincerely grateful for all the donations and kind words.
Every little bit will make a difference.

Thanks all,
Church

I'll take a look around and see what I can find. I'll see if any family or friends have some stuff they'd like to donate as well I'll send you a PM when I know. Any idea when you are planning on sending everything?
