Need some fellow Members Opinions: Looking for a 350z Coupe Black
As some people might remember, I owned a grand touring roadster, triple black last year, fully loaded, with only 8000km on it. But I sold it off before I left the country on business and I didn't want it sittting for so many months + the winter while paying for it.
Now i'm back, and looking for another Z possibly. But something that costs less as I am also now budgeting a condo.
I am looking to purchase a 350z coupe, in black on black leather. Max km 60,000. Nothing higher.
I found a 35 anniversary one on Auto trader, going for 22 grand out the door. But there are a few problems:
- I dont like the tan/black combo seats - but I can live with it, and perhaps buy a new cover next winter and redo the leather since its also a little worn out.
- The driver side door, and front quarter panel has been painted, so it was in an accident
- Someone tried to brake into the car, so the rubber lining around the driver side windows is scratched up and needs changing, and the inside drivers side door panel is scratched up and needs to be changed. No idea how much that door panel will cost.
- Three minor dents around the car, can be bumped back out - there is no paint chipping.
Not sure if this is worth the trouble. The car is a 2005 (of course, since its a 35 anniversary car - number 17) Grand touring with the big brembo kit and nicer stock rims. Leather interior etc. 60,000km
Would like your opinions on whether its worth it, or should I keep looking.
Also considering a roadster again, though the coupe is just more practical. There is a guy selling his roadster with burnt orange seats for 22 grand, but the km are a little too high for my liking. 75 000 km.
My other choice is a white 328i BMW that I found, but for 33 grand out the door. Much more than the 350z, but its hard to find a 328i at that price. 2007 model.
Still undecided on what to do, but I might keep looking, or jump on one of these deals.
The Z is a great price which I could buy without any strain on bank account, but I am wondering if it will cause more trouble than its worth, because I would need to fix all its imperfections.

Im selling mine in the spring but if you're looking now I could speed up the process.
2003 black performance (everything but the big brakes) about 90k on it. 6Spd Manual Coupe
It has the sunburt orange seats though but everything else in the car is black (I get tons of compliments on the seats - you could trade them easily if you wanted. They are in demand) New rotors and pads about 2 months ago and alignment 1 month ago. Also comes with a compustar 2 way alarm and starter with battery back up installed by audioheaven (lifetime warranty)
Krown Rustproofed Since I got it (I've owned it for about 1.5 years so it's been done 2 times by me)
Lamin X light smoke front reflectors (you can take it off easily) and rear signal lights
Garmin GPS fit in the cubby and hardwired to the car (doesnt attach to the cigarette lighter so no wires in the way)
Added things on the car but I plan on selling stock but I could be swayed to throw some things in or we can work with price.
-2008 LED taillights
-Tein Flex Coilovers with EDFC
-Rear camber/toe kit
-Pioneer MP3/CD/Ipod Deck with Bluethooth Handsfree Phone and music streaming built in with external mic
19x8.5 and 19x.9.5 BBS LM reps (chikara LS1's) in 350Z fitments These were made to fit the 350 and G35 coupe specifically) and only used for 2 weeks before the season ended with Falken tires @ 99% tread
G35 Coupe 18in Rims with Hankook Icebear winter tires
Never raced or abused and no accidents. Reason for selling is I only use it for my short commute in T.O. and I need more room. Im buying an Escape. Looking for 17,000 including the GPS, and the Alarm and Starter

OP,
My personal advice to you..... avoid any Revup Models. This includes the 35th anny. and '06 MT models. (oil consumption years..)
If I were you, I would get a 370z. If that is out of your price range, look at the HR's.

Are you saying any of the Touring models and Anniversary models I should avoid?? Oil consumption not good? Sorry would appreciate some elaboration if you don't mind. Whats an HR?? lol im clueless.
370z is out of my price range, for that amount ill just get the 328i BMW Coupe with an M3 kit.
Hey JEFFOS69, thanks for the info. Ill think about it, but I was personally avoiding buying an 03 model, as well as the km are a little too high for me.
Though the car looks quite good.

The 35th anny & '06 MT models, all came with the revup motor *7k rpm redline*
These motors all had an inherent flaw which caused them to suck oil, out of the engine.. Long story short, they loose oil.. *eventually all of them*
This is why I said to avoid these models/years... Especially with the warranty expiring, you would end up SOL.
If I were you.. I would only consider '07 and up..*7500 rpm redline - Dual TB*
-The HR *high rev* motor performs, leaps and bounds above the Revup's and older Non Revup DE's.
(HR motor came in '07- '08 models)

Hey no problem I figured I'd mention it. Like I said I plan on selling in spring or I might just trade it in to be easy.
If I am looking anywhere around 32-35 grand I think i will just get the 328i in a few months, or wait it out either way and buy a newer 350z or 370z next winter. Though lasting this long without a car has already been torture.
But what can you do, finances are tight, aspirations are high, sacrifices and compromises must be made.
Somewhat stings that there was a 2007 black coupe grand touring for sale on Autotrader for 27 grand, but I just checked now and its already sold lol. Higher than I wanted to spend, but you guys are telling me that the newer model is way better, so the thought of spending a little more than expected was something i was considering. Lost opportunity, though I am sure more will pop up.

You are probably right, though the prices might go up closer to spring. But yeah, I am not in a rush, so just waiting for the right time/deal to come along.
Any info on where to look, or who to talk to about that would be great.
I really don't understand this mentality of a U.S car being any different from a Canadian car.
There's 2 differences.
- The gauge cluster reads MPH as the dominant speed measurement.
- The temperature gauge reads Fahrenheit vs Celsius.
There is no difference beyond that. Models are identical. If you want to pay a 20% premium for a car because it has KM/H and Celsius... be my guest. Only way I'd ever buy Canadian is if I was buying a brand new model which was not yet available used, which I would never do.
Carfax reports are just as detailed and indicate all accidents etc... if you're unsure regardless don't buy a salvage? which this poster is not doing regardless.
I thought about importing, if you're getting a stock unit it shouldn't be a problem at all. The only issue is transportation really, Google the subject 'importing from the U.S' or search on the forum there is a detailed thread dedicated to this...
http://www.importcartocanada.info/ - I have several friends who have done this procedure for their luxury cars etc... flawless thus far, mods will be an issue as for mentioned however if you were at all considering. It is not a complicated process by any means, it is slightly time consuming but if you've got time to troll these forums like most of us, you have time for this
.
If you go through with this and are even considering the 370, I'm sure you could get one duties and licensing included for 30k.
I got so accustomed to my gauges that when I switched to my winter car (Canadian) it bothered me lol.
