Default changed my rear end fluid

while doing an oil change at my shop i decided to change my diff fluid. I did my oil with MOTUL 5w30 than did my rear end fluid with motul"s rear end synthetic . Night and day difference is all I can say. I wish I did this months ago. Much smoother I am very happy with my change over. Als o I noticed a big clump of grease on the drain plug? any ideas?

The drain plug is magnetic. that was a wad of metal particles.

the shop manual says to torque the plugs to 23-28 Ft Lbs.

I changed at 10,000 the wad on my plug was maybe a 1/2 teaspoon I think the stink of that fluid exaggerated its size.

What is everyone using for Diff. fluid? My buddy scored an entire case of Royal Purple, and gave me half the box, but I want to see if anyone else has had much success with it before trying it myself.

When I added my Nismo differential I thought the provided Nismo fluid was too loud. I went with Valvoline synthentic gear oil and whale sperm, which you can get at any GM dealer, its their Differential treatment. It cut down on about 80 percent of the chatter.

The manual recommends to change the diff fluid at 30k miles. I dont think it will hurt the diff if not done at that mileage?

I put Royal Purple along the same lines as Redline . . . my local shop can't keep it in stock since a few of the local oil change stores buy it from him. Overall, I like the stuff and I'm usually a redline guy.

Those particles are there after every change. It was really bad the first couple of changes but now it is a lot better....particles are a lot finer now...just regular wear from metal on metal gear contact.

My diff is whining and started after some hard launches. What diff fluid or additive will cut down on the noise? Thanks

I'd do one of two things:

Contact Royal Purple and see if their syncromax or maxgear will work in the viscous diff

or

Get a mechanical diff
