You will see them around AZ soon enough...just play with one and you will find out what im talking about
The Current M5 is a sweet car (don't like the looks of the new one), but where did a stock m5 pull over a G? Road & Track only managed 0.85g and 66.4mph through the slalom. The RS6 had slightlyl better numbers, but far from 1G.

drop in a JGTC VQ30DETT, you will beat any M3, and M5 for sure.

I dunnno about a Z taking the new M5 500 HP and 383Ft-lbs are a lot of power, In the straight away it got the advantage, but in the corners I am sure the Z has an advantage. I am gonna lean towards the M5 becuase I have ridden in the older one and its already a beast.

...but the M5 does it while passing 50 state smog and with a warranty

a properly setup TT Z would be able to "beat" the new M5 I suspect...would it be as well balanced overall or as comfortable? Doubtful. But the 2 cars are 180 degrees apart. That being said if I could afford one, I'd love one.

As for the E46 M3, with some careful mods and the right driver the Z does very well....I have quite a few run ins with them thusfar. Overall though, the E46 M is also a helluva car for the money IMHO.

Default M///

I traded in my 350 for a E46 and have not missed it. The driving expierence of the M3 is where as the Z was

But for the same money it cost for a M3 you could FI the Z and turn into so I guess its all relative.

Both are great cars the M should be a bit faster and more refined it cost twice as much.

As for the new M5 and the 07 M3 comming thats a different game all together

I did the same thing. I'm a diehard Z guy, but, damn, the M is an upgrade in grand proportions. The only things I miss from the Z is the light clutch and notchy, yet solid shift feel.

On the street, the M rides and sounds (exhaust loudness) like my Z w/ the NISMO S-Tune suspension and exhaust, but better. The suspension is almost as stiff as the S-Tune, but it's more compliant. And no more hearing the nice tone of a VQ engine only to look over and see a G35 or FX35. I'll see if it handles as well at the track soon, but it sounds that I'll just need the Dinan adj. front sway bar.

And a no-optioned M only weighs around 100 more than the Z. The 3400lb curb weight listed by BMW accounts for a full tank and a 175lb person.

Michael.

I dont know why you guys are comparing the 2 and a z with a greddy kit on 9 ponds could easily beat a new M%s. I personaly think the new 5s are a peice and even though it has 500hp it only has 380+ibft of torq. even the e 55 still out drags it. also a Z with suspention mods could easly out handel a M5, maybe even stock z could out handel it and the new M% doesnt pull 1g so stop pullin numbers out of no where.
If I had 90k to spend on a car I would just get a noble m12.

I agree a TT Z would eat a M anyday if the M was stock. As far as the M5 goes its not really a car that people buy to track or drag its really more of a GT so comparing it to a modded Z on the track is kinda dumb. A better comparison on the track would be the Z and the M3.

Would a modified Z take an M3 or an M5? Depends on your defination of "modified". I bet you a Z with a stroker kit and turbo, plus loads of suspension mods, would be more than a match for either, but I imagine a Z with, say, S-tune suspension and turbo would have a hard time keeping up with the M5.

I think you guys are giving the M5 WAYYYYYYYYYY too little credit!
M5's are nice for old people who are looking to get a break from speed and modding. Other then that get something with POTENTIAL, not just looks.

You are an uneducated...moron

enthuziast.... just curious, with full suspension mods, and lets say a fully boosted twin turbo, which from posts we have seen take e55 amg's on the highways(which the new m5 cant do) how are you expecting the m5 to fair with a loaded z? Lighter car with all suspension mods, and 450 rear wheel hp.... and **** loads more torq.... sorry but I would love to have an M5 as a everyday car, performance wise, at that point of the ball gain an M5 wont keep up.

I would get the M3, E 46 was my dream car for a while. But I think waiting for the new three series with the v8 is a much better choice.

But if i had to spend 90 grand on a car, i would probably go with the new 997 GT3 or the New V8 aston martin coming out. Talk about interior and looks. Those two cars are going to be awesome, for a round 100 g's for the gt3 and 120 for the aston. I'ts better than 90 for the bimmer. It's a whole other class.

But i would still keep my z if i had that much money, i would not trade it. Selling a car is a big mistake, I already miss my old car before the z. I wish i had kept it around and had both the z and my old rsx type S even though the z was an upgrade to the acura just as much as the m3 is an upgrade to the z.
