seems like it would be heavier

does it cool the engine bay in some new way?

If ARC sells it, it usually has a purpose. In this case, though, I cant see what major difference it can make except a slight adjustment to aerodynamics.

its not worth $450+ for me, considering it only has major effects at 100mph and above and i dont spend very much time in that range

there are less holes in the arc tray than the stock one, which allows better air flow under the car. It also appears the small slots in the front of the ARC tray allow air out from in front of the radiator, which should further increase flow under the car. Even if the ARC tray extends below the factory one, it forces air lower under the car, meaning less volume of air underneath and decreasing resistance. The only way to know for sure if the part works would be to test it in a wind tunnel. But basically, as the car increases speed, it should help decrease drag and essentially suck the car to the road better. But this design doesnt look like it would make a significant difference.
