Default Radiators...whos got em, cooling benefits?

Hey guys, I was wondering if you could help me out. I want to get some improved cooling in my Z. I know which companies have radiators out there, but I want to hear from you guys about their performance in all conditions. Thanks guys!

Just got the Koyo radiator installed but haven't tested it yet. Don't know how well it will work, have to wait til it gets hotter around here.

Yeah you really cant tell in cold weather. I have heard koyo makes good products. Is it a double row cooler? How much thicker than stock?
Oh yeah, the other thing im looking for is better electric cooling fans, have you seen any of those?

I was told that the fans aren't necessary. Maybe because Im running the thermostat, oil cooler and radiator. Its a lil over 2x bigger. A lil heavier because its not plastic like the stock. Its aluminum with a nice polish to it. As far as the rows im not sure. Im guessing its two rows. Once i get my car back I'll know.

i got the koyo radiator too

can't say yet how much it helps, but i'm sure it does. One guy on these boards said he got the nismo thermostat and koyo radiator and he didn't overheat anymore on the track.

The guy who installed mine said it was noticably bigger and thicker. It's a little wider too. He said it held a lot more coolant than the stock one.

the Power enterprize and upcoming 350EVO would be ones to watch too - might be quite a bit better than the koyo one. I'm planning on getting an oil cooler and bigger oil pan w/heat fins so I think I'll be good to go with the koyo

I really want to know about the ARC SMC triple row....... drool......
costs just over 1k but the company makes some amazing products.
I have heard that you can even gain horsepower if the cooling effects are greatly improved, what do you guys think?

I think better cooling will only help eliminate the possibility of heat taking away your power. So you aren't really gaining any power, just keeping the power from reducing due to heat.

I plan on going with the Blitz.

It possible that it can improve power by improving the scavenging effect due to a bigger temperature difference. It will also help keep the intake temps lower making the air denser entering the chambers.

only if the ecu is tuned to take advantage can you make more power. On an ecu not tuned for said mods, it can cost you big time ignition advance and fuel economy (going through that right now with my NISMO thermostat, hence why it's coming out of my car) The only purpose these mods serve is to combat overheating thats been proven to happen. If you are not overheating, all you are adding is something else in the engine bay to polish.

On a related topic: Did I read somewhere you're supposed to run Toyota Blue coolant with the Koyo radiators? Anyone familiar?

Thanks,

Bruce

Z1, are you saying you need your ECU programed in order for the nismo thermostat to work correctly???
