I heard about a weight that can just be removed somewhere around the engine or in the front of the car, it is about 20kg or something like that, anyone know what i am talking about, i forgot but i would like to pull it out.

I know it's been mentioned before, but there really is a pretty big difference in tire weights out there. I was just checking specs on Tirerack and for the same 265/35/18 tire, there was a 5 pound difference between Goodyear (30lb) and Michelin(25lb)!
Bet many give up the search for lowering unsprung weight after they buy their forged wheels. The tires are even more important since they are furthest away from the hub.

no, it is some sort of weight. I was looking around yesterday and i think i know what it was, there is a weight on roadsters up front on the drivers side that is there to balance the car i guess...i'm not sure. I am going to get under my car tonight probably and have a look around.

These guys do custom plexiglass windows including windshield, I'm about to order the sides and quarter (already have the hatch done).

since when is a little bit of paper thin sheet metal "a structural element" ?I've seen this same technique used to strengthen verts since there is nothing else to tie the b-pillars together. You'd be hard pressed to tell, I'm sure, since the coupe has a roof.
Let us know how much it weighs when you remove.

I wouldn't run the 1/8" it's a little too flimsy for my taste. I ordered the 3/16" which is the minimum requirement for SCCA. Weight difference is actually minimal, most of the savings on mine will come from the carbon doors without window motors, locks, door panel, etc..
I've already removed the rear "speaker box" and I guarantee you on the coupe it is nothing like the rear strut brace. You actually don't save much weight by removing it though, it's mostly just to clean up the look of the car and to make more room for a better roll hoop mounting location.

the carbon fiber doors save like 60 pounds a piece...hatch saves 45 pounds-ish..havent heard anything on the hoods...with all the stuff you said id be more like 250 pounds...& gas? we're talking curb weight here right?

Has anyone put in a carbon hatch but kept the rear wiper? Or do most of the cf hatches not accomodate the wiper mechanics?
I think that's a compromise I'm going to have to strike with my wife if it's possible.
