5w-30. It says it on the oil cap.

 

i use 10w30 in wintertime, and 5w30 in warmer weather

 

Yup, 10 ~ 30W, Valvoline. Good old Nissan oil filter (65F) along with the brass washer is also right for me. Changing the oil yourself is a cinch. Somehow, you need to get underneath the cherished Z. That is a major step and the hardest in my opinion. The second--easy as pie--step is removing the 14 10mm socket screws which keeps a plastic cover that keeps debris, rocks and glass from "bulleting" important components in the oil changing area. Yesterday, I used a friends Rhino Ramps but you need someone to spot you. It is scary going up the ramp--very scary. In fact it is downright weird. Any how, I hope this helps...rich, san jose, ca

 

I would consider the opposite. 1ow-30 for summer and 5w-30 for winter. Either way your dealing with some fairly low centistokes but for in added heat of the summertime i would bump to a higher vis.

but it doesn't matter cause the VI improvers will still get you to a 30w oil when its heated up. Really the first number is the cold number w=winter. The lower the number the easier your engine turns over when it gets super cold out. Use whatever its not a big deal. The 5w was asked by the API and government to the oil companies as a energy conserving oil.

 

I think you have it turned around there......need heavier weight in warmer weather.......

 

I live in Florida and never hit below 0, so I use 10w-30.
