DO NOT Use GL-5 Lube. Your Transmission requires GL-4, using GL-5 can cause pre-mature wear and damage to the soft metals in the tranny. However, it is fine to use GL-5 in the Diff. I believe I used a little over 3 qts in the tranny of Redline MT-90 and I forgot what I used in the Diff but it was Redline also (I'll look it up if you want).

MT-90 Description from RedlineOil.com:

Popular in Nissan, Toyota and Mazda manual transmissions and transaxles as well as other selected applications, this is a 75W90 GL-4 Gear Oil thatÃÔ slightly heavier than MTL. Provides excellent protection of gears and synchronizers and its balanced slipperiness provides a perfect coefficient of friction, allowing easier shifting.

I'd order 4 qts of this.

Royal Purple Max-Gear IS GL-4 Certified. Check their Web site. I used RP in my tranny and Diff. and had a noticable difference.

GL-4 and GL-5 are NOT formulation specifications, but performance specifications.

Most(especially in the past) GL-5 spec oil use additives that are corrosive to yellow metals. But that does not mean ALL GL-5 spec oils are corrosive to yellow metals.

Mobil1, royal purple and other oil manufacturers produce GL5 oils that are not corrosive to yellow metals.

Will nissan get pissed off and void your warrant if you use Redline fluids in the transmission? I heard this awhile back but was not sure if it was true.

Do you need to flush out your tranny????
If so with what kind of oil????
We have gear oil right????
All the places I called dont flush or wont put Redline/ Royal purple in....
Would would be the appropriate steps to replace tranny fluids???

You can change out the fluid yourself if no one else will do it. VERY easy.

Well i know that if you dont flush out the fluid you will still have about 50% left of what ever was in there in he first place so my real question.....

Is it bad to mix the stock NISSAN tranny oil and synthetic gear oil.....

Would it be better to flush out first then replace with whatever oil you want..... and if I should flush first what should I ask for at the shop that does the flush....??

Also what benefits will I experience...... I may have a synco issue right now in 2nd gear...will changing be better for my tranny / possibly fix issue???

I doubt it will repair any tranny issues you have now. My tranny is still hard to get into gear unless I double clutch on downshifts and/or rev match. It is much more notchy than it was when I first bought it. The oil does seem to coat better because when I do grind it the sound is much more muffled whereas b4 I could hear the tinny grind sound much more clearly. Overall, I am most likely going to swap out the oil for OEM fluid and try to get the tranny replaced under warranty... But, it is an uphill battle.

Basically, I backed the car onto rhino ramps and jacked up the front to be more or less level. After that, you look for the transmission housing and you will see too flat bolts with a hex hole in them. One is on the bottom and one on the side. The one on the side is the fill hole, loosen it first. Then remove the drain hex bolt (I used an allen wrench) and the oil will drain. After it is fully drained you need either a suction gun or a funnel with a long plastic tube (put the funnel in the engine bay and route the tubing down into the fill hole) to fill the tranny. Repeat the process for differential. If you need pictures or what not I can try to take some tommorow. My AIM is AgentReaver if you have questions.
