Default ? How long does it take to install a UR crank pulley?

I'm endeavoring to buy a UR crank pulley. How many hours does it take to install and what is the cost of install?

Thanks

45min - 1 hour with right tools

2 hours if you take it really slow

Do you have to adjust the timing after install?

they would charge you from 1 to 2 hours at $85/hour. Unless you can find some garage charge you less.

Just a 1/2 drive wrench with the correct socket, can't remember size, a bar for leverage, I used an old hockey stick, and something to hold the brake pedal applied unless you have a helper.

Nope, timing is done through consult.

Nope. Timing is determined by crank position sensor via flywheel reference. The front pulley has no impact on timing.

It took me about 1 hour. Tools needed are a 1/2 breaker bar with 3/4" or 19mm socket. 12mm and 14mm wrench. 14mm and 10mm sockets. Some white paint to mark the bolt and pulley for proper torque, and finally, a torque wrench.

I recommend putting some antiseaze on the crank bolt threads and flange surface to get maximum torque accuracy.

It also helps to have something like a long jack handle that slip over the breaker bar so you can get some serious leverage. Put the car in 6th gear and get someone to mash on the brake pedal when removing and replacing the bolt.

haha... it all depends on how you do it/ what tools you have...

me and my friend did it at his shop... i'd say it took us a maximum of 20 minutes

didn't need to push on the break pedal or anything...

without the right tools it'll probably take you around an hour or more

The high quotes are probably from dealers or mechanis that want to use power tools and to get those in place to remove the pulley bolt you have to take out the radiator so that is what is driving up the time quotes.

A buddy of mine at a dealer told me 2-3 hours and I laughed so when I was done I called him and told him I had just done it in about 30 minutes. The 350Z is a piece of cake not like the 300ZX which requires a puller to remove it.

another idea is to set the breaker bar on the pulleys bolt, then bump the ignition over to use the torque of the starter to break it free.

Really, no pulley puller? I installed an UR crank pulley on my Z32 and yeah...the puller is necessary. So on the 350Z...does it just slide off, then? What about a woodruff key?

Thanks!

Just give it a few wiggles and it comes right off. When I did mine, the woodruff key stayed in place. There's no need to remove the key.

do get a breaker bar. no other tools needed. 1hour max for install. you'll spend more time jacking up the car to remove the bottom plastic piece then you will taking out and replacing the pulley.
