the Z is noticably faster after the break in period. I have sen Dynos of a 20 WHP difference between 8 miles and 4K miles.

Also, the 300C is 4K pounds, not 5K

300C is pretty quick, I believe 5.9 0-60 times, no slouch! It would be a drivers race all the way!

uhh...I didnt say it was slow. If anything, I just told him it was faster than he thought. No need to correct me.

otherwise, you THOUGHT bolt ons would give you MAJOR gains. Meaning you didn't know what was up with the car in the first place

BTW, I'm at around 345 crank hp with bolt ons...

rite now i have test pipes and cold air i feel i lost a **** load of low end torque

i dont see how i can make it run rite without some kind of tuning

You went from an LS1 (98 C5) to a VQ35DE (Z) and expected it to be faster?

Honestly, you should have searched around a little bit.

Did you not test drive the Z?

I loved my Z, but my Grandpa's old C5 would stomp it.

Set aside 5g for a blower or even more if you want to turbo it.

If you want to go N/A be prepared to spend near the same and you'll reach near 300 rwhp.

Be warned though you have to pay big to play big with this car.

P.S. - If you want torque back, but on some highflow cats and take that CAI off.

I had Nismo CAI and test pipes, and felt I lost grunt.

no i didnt expect it to be faster than a vette but i think nissan should have set the bar a bit higher on the power to weight ratio what were they thinking

after the test pipes and cold air (AEM)i feel i actually lost power due to the PCM not wiling to compensate

are you saying that the cold air intake and test pipes affected your low end i think you might be rite thats exactly what i felt

you need to reset the ECU if you don't have a way to permanently fool the ECU or bypass it with an EMS

test pipes especially are brutal on emissions - all the ECU ultimatly cares about are emissions. It's a downward spiral. The ECU will reduce fuel because the O2 sensors are detecting bad emissions. If it can't bring the emissions down enough, it'll keep reducing fuel. Eventually, it'll start knocking. If it knocks, it will start pulling timing. Then if it's not enough emissions reduction, it will cut more fuel.....and on and on. Until it reaches an equilibrium, or can't go any further, at chich point it throws a SES code and goes into safe mode. If emissions are drastically out of spec and can't reach an equilibrium with emissions level, it will go into limp mode - and you will KNOW when that happens. You won't be able to rev above 2500 and all the lights on the dash will light up.

At the very least do something about the O2 sensors in the test pipes. There's all sorts of proven ways to pull the sensor out of the pipe so it's not directly in the way of the exhaust

BTW of course you lost some low end torque with test pipes - you're NA. You don't have as much back pressure. Without some form of FI, you're not going to get the same sort of back pressure levels down low. Up in the high RPM's you'll gain power, but not down low. That's test pipes 101 sorta info...

I wouldn't be suprised if the 05 is even more of an emissions *****. Of course the 05 track model has less torque than the other previous models...

get UR crank pulley, it should compensate for the torque loss at lower rpm. And get a Y-pipe. The car should give you some kick for less than 500$ with those 2 mods. You can't get a reflash with a 05... but you can tune it with a piggyback.

I agree with you, the Z, 100% stock kind of "feels" slower than what you would expect. Did you bring it to dragstrip? What where your times? Trap speed?

After 2+ years, you'd think someone would have really figured out the ECU by now. Really annoying.
