I called them about 5 or 6 days ago. Guy said it was on hold. I tried asking him for more details - why it was on hold, if there's a ballpark idea when they'll start working on it again and all he could say was it was "indefinitely on hold" and "there is currently no plans to work on it at this time" - or something to that effect. It didn't sound promising at all. I was going to ask him why they stopped or if there was a problem or what, but I could tell the guy either just didn't feel like talking with me or he just really had no info to give me....

I don't think they have the capacity to do it, they seem like a programmer company that knows just enough to find the ignition, air/fuel maps, etc. on domestics (which are more simple than imports (well, newer imports and domestics) to find in the ECU). It's worth a try I guess.

I think F.A.S.T. might be able to do it....

I also think it might be wise to push MoTeC to do it....just have someone offer their 350Z as a test car and get them to develop maps, then it would be as simple as buying it and finding a tuner (sounds simple eh?).

i just applied to their beta tester list.
i think someone knowledgeable like you, nis, should lead this thing. the rest of us will follow and make our z cars available for testing, depending on where the company is, but since our site is international, that shouldn't be a problem. i'm in and will help however i can to further the cause for more na hp.

FAST has issues atm. I will not go into any details, but let just say they have lost alot of market share and talent recently. Not to mention they are geared 99% towards the domestic market.

Motec has a unit that can be wired in the Z. Look to spend ~$4000 and good luck w/ tech support. You will stil lose features such as CVTC.

A plug-n-play solution is probably not going to come out for quite a while.

I think we are banging our heads against the wall...
Someday we will have a worthy ECU replacement/reflash that doesnt require sending the car or ecu to california.
NISMO rescue us! aka what Dynan did for BMW.

NISMO parts are re-branded...so unless they outsource it, it's not going to happen.

Bump, I gave them a link to the thread. Finally, after 2 weeks and 2 emails they replied today:
"Brandon,

Thanks for following up. We have reviewed the forums and there does seem to
be a real good interest going. How many people are serious....we are not
sure. But it is a good start. We will talk about this project more after we
return from Pikes Peak (end on June).

Thanks,"

Nizpro downunder is testing on the MoTeC plug-and-play now.... it will not be long until they release this! And they should be able to sell the whole kit (with motec) from there...

cheers,

But will every other stock thing still work? (cruise control, TCS, VDC, etc.)

Yes.... it will still keep the stock functions when the stock drive by wire throttle control is used, those functions include VDC, TC, Cruise, ABS, Air-Cond.. etc. and you can also make a choice to go for motec drive by wire throttle control which is A LOT harder to get it right... once you got it right, then you can tune for the throttle position and the percentage of the throttle opening according to the pedal feedback... but you will lose TCS, VDC and Cruise control... but still have the air-cond and the ABS... because plug and play is wired in such a way it takes over the entire engine management... and leaving the stock ecu to operate ABS, Air Cond... etc

cheers,

richie

I really forgot how much my m600 costs already though.... somewhere around 3K to 3.5K AUS.. which is around 2.2K to 2.6K USD.... oh.. and of course... will need to add in cam control module too (forgot about the price)... and also not sure about how much they will package everything up and sell though... need to wait and see how it turns out first! I will keep you posted.

cheers,

richie

Please keep us posted on any updates I think the Motec unit is going to be a great option for the 350z.

Ok guys, i'm going to let someone else take the ropes with this. I found something else that when I do decide to get a standalone I will be purchasing. So, just PM me if you want to take over and i'll send you the copy of the emails and you can continue contact with the company.

For those who want something now, check out the MoTeC M600/M800, Nizpro now has a harness and is selling everything you need (for it to work properly) if you want to get it all from them. Pretty steep price (~$5000) but you get complete control of what the stock ECU tells the engine to do and the other OEM functions are unharmed. Pm me for more info if you'd like, or check out Z350Lover's thread.

hey there nis ...

3 - 5K price range is way to much money for what you get ...

ill just wait for something better.. the 03s are coming to the end of there warranty period so think nissan should release the codes or they might sell the nismo PCM thats out in japan..

KWIKZ, there are a few standalone options right now. Personally, I don't think a complete replacement will ever come out because there is so much to our ECU.

Why should there be a complete replacement? The standalones that just take over what the ECU tells the engine to do are doing fine.

I've been looking over my options and I think the Electromotive TEC3R is my best option. I'm going to consider some Haltech's, but i'm pretty dead-set on the TEC3R. It's the most inexpensive standalone option there is (that has the features I want).

I suggest that if you guy's want some more control of what your ECU is doing, get an Ultimate eManage or go standalone.
