Yup. OEM got around the issue by using a rubber compliance ring that allows additional degree of movements after the **** bottoms out. It works fine, but is not designed for repeated use. In my case, the rubber piece tore/wore itself out after repeated twist ONs and OFFs. The inside of this **** was also designed to match that of the OEM's dimensions, so the rubber ring will still work. However, I can't rely on the rubber piece to hold together for everyone, so the gate pattern engraving idea was dropped. It is much easier to forgo the rubber ring (and a metal ring) all together and simply twist the **** on and let it sit against the OEM boot, which has a flat plastic retainer underneath it. Clean and simple.

For those of you who by chance have gotten rid of the black retainer piece (under the boot) ... it may be a good idea to restore it or retain the oem rubber/metal compliance rings to insure the **** sits at the correct height.

Here's a cheap alternative to inidcate gate pattern ...

Oh ... forgot to mention. You can find the stickers from our good friends at Performance Nissan for a mere $3.05!

Link Here

Stick it somewhere on the center console by the shifter.

I think this was already answered, but go ahead and place the order on the website. Cards wont be charged until the production is complete, and the ***** are enroute to me. Roughly 1 week from Wed.

Is the base a separate part? If so, can I get one cut with a different thread for my 240z?

Could you get it without the **** on there so you can put your own shift **** of choice on the shifter?

The **** is cut from one solid piece. I will let Clint answer the questions about customization options. The threads are tapped by hand, so if Clint has the thread pitch, he could probably do it for you. But becuase he isn't testing it specifically on the 240sx, there is a chance it might not "look" right.
