I guess you guys didn't read my post.

I guess I'm gonna say this one last time and be done with it....

This is A+1 most dumbest Mod ever posted on this forum. If you're doing this mod you are risking future premature clutch wear (Fact) for nothing. This is NOT a fix.
I have also performed this mod (Like an Idiot) and had to learn that hard way. I'm only trying to pass on this knowledge to save you both time and money in the future. Take it or leave it.

I completely agree. Incomplete disengagement = bad

I'm not doubting you guys because this is the first time I've ever had a problem with the clutch engagement of any car, HOWEVER, I am very happy that i did do the mod because at the stock settings, it just sucked. I really wished I'd bought the s2000 instead (i still actually think the s2000 drives better but obviously i bought a Z)

I will let you know when my clutch starts slipping so we can guage how bad it was (i did one-rotation)

in either case, If i didn't do this mod, I would've just bought a different clutch anyways so running the life down on my stock clutch is not that much of a waste to me. (I still agree with you tho, this "mod" probably kills the life somewhat)

I dont get it, theirs people in here saying that they've had no issues with doing this and they've had it done for over a year and then you have people that have done it and have messed up the clutch completely. I dont know what to do!!!
I to hate the long engagement of the clutch but after reading so many issues im not sure if i should bother trying to change the clutch issue.

In the FSM there are instructions on how much freeplay is allowable. I would just follow that.

You cant just do it. You should measure the amount of free play when doing it. If done right, it should not cause a problem. If you do it even a tad too much it will deff wear the clutch down .

I'm not quite sure why this would be the "dumbest" mod. However, it is obviously foolish to lower the engagement point to the extreme. I lowered mine just enough (2 turns, but no more than 3 from original) to be able to drive comfortably again.

I could've sworn I was able to switch gears while applying a little bit of gas before, but then I couldn't do it anymore as if I'm giving it gas too early when letting off the clutch causing the car to jerk. I couldn't shift fast without the car jerking all over the place. It didn't have to be full throttle. Simply letting out the clutch would jerk the car.

Things just got worst, and it felt like the driving effort was increasing. On my way to work this morning felt great. It could be lowered a tiny bit more, but the drive was much more smooth than before. I know I was driving smooth last year after getting a new transmission, but somehow it started to get worse each month. I've had this car since 2002 so it is quite strange that my driving abilities would get worse. I've driven an RSX Type-S, and the engagement is so smooth it was quite fun to drive. I let my friend drive my Z, and he agreed about the clutch/tranny on the Z being rough.

I to hate the long engagement of the clutch but after reading so many issues im not sure if i should bother trying to change the clutch issue.

NOTE: Anything you do as a result of what I say is not my fault, Don't hold me to anything.

But, the way I rationalized is, if the clutch right now is 'okay' to you and you're scared to do it. Just don't. But the way i figured, I hated it so much I was going to buy a new one, so i figure i might as well just try, because if I mess it up, its no loss to me.

If in doubt, don't.

I would be concerned about lowering it too much, as some of you have said lowering too much causes dmg. I can't stand having to overrev my engine and stalling the car at stop lights and ESPECIALLY driving in traffic.

I really want to do this but there are so many mixed reviews it makes it tough.

I definately am NOT satisfied with how the car is currently, but scared that adjustment might cause future problems. Really am at a loss for what is the best alternative in this case.

^ Just perform mod.

Save about a grand.

When clutch wears down, buy new one. That's what I'm doing, I'm not a big fan of stock clutch. Even still, it's already been a year for me on this mod with occassional pedal getting stuck to the floor.

Just did this mod, lowered the engagement by 2 turns, then adjusted the clutch pedal stop, so it stops basically level with the brake pedal. No problems so far.

Hey guys, I am the one who put this mod up here about 2.5 years ago and my clutch is still super smooth and great and have had no problems with. If you read my write up on the pictures, I talk about the engagement point too. so those folks who thinks that this is a dumb mod, read it again.

Just a warning to those who perform the mod. Don't adjust too much. I didn't even count the turn, I just adjusted it until it was comfortable for me, but I ended up getting clutch sticking. I just readjusted it back a little bit higher, no problems whatsoever now.

Been running this for a year now.

this is definately a good mod when done right (and not too extreme). i only did about 1.5 turns (i think my clutch's engagement point was higher than stock before i adjusted it)...but anyways, it feels great now! so smooth...but i still have to get used to the slightly lower engagement point. thanks for the info! (even if it was from a while ago!)

Here's a question. Why does my clutch feel kinda spongy early in the mornings, but seem to firm up after the car warms up? Every morning, when I get going, the clutch seems to feel a little soft, but as soon as the car warms up, it seems to stiffen up again. I don't recall it doing that before I adjusted it.

Recap: What I did. Adjusted the engagement, lowered by 2 turns. Also, reduced the clutch pedal movement, so the pedal stops just slightly higher than the brake pedal.

after i adjuseted mine, the pedal wouldnt come up all the way after I drove it hard. Took it to the dealer, and they fixed it. Now, its just like you said, its soft in the mornings, and it gets harder after its warmed up. I have no idea why. At first it seems like a cool mod, but I wouldnt reccomned it because of possible problems down the road.

I wonder if moving my clutch stop back again, but keeping the engagement where it is, would help. I doubt it though, since you have the same problem. You didn't shorten the clutch pedal travel, did you?
