3.9 final vs. stock?
just curious to see if anyone's lined up a stock z vs. another z modded only with the swapped final drive???
i installed my 3.9 a while a go and i can defiately tell a difference...just wanted so see if anyone raced em yet?
theoretically the 3.9 final drive should reach the limited top speed quicker that a stock car. So it would be cool to see them line up

uh no....If you where to drag it out to 155mph...the car with the 3.9....would be a football field ahead in the end 6 gear under normal cirmstance is a dog...

I dropped .5 second in the 1/4 mile with the 3.9 gears
But I also have A LOT of mods...
cold air intake mod (A 4" hole cut out in the plastic shroud right in front of the filter), JWT popcharger, ported throttlebody (just a clean up), ported Crawford plenum, Crawford headers, Crawford high flow cats, Fujitsubo Legalis-R exhaust, evo350 3.9 gears....
ran a best of 13.37@104 mph...
I can make it through the traps in 4th gear (6900-7000 rpm)
I have 7200 rpm to work with though
The gears drop the rpm right in the sweet spot on the rev-up engines and I think it explains the acceleration difference...
These gears made a HUGE difference on my '05 6MT G35 Sedan!

It's a very very good mod especially if you plan to remain NA i definately recommend that anyone doing na would get this it really does make a big difference and is worth the money imo but it's all up to the buyer

I think with the higher redline, like with the new 300hp engines, this would be a great mod. With the 6600 redline, this could just make you smack it that much more often with little gain in the 1/4. I would like to check one out on my local road courses though, I imagine that is where it would really shine, and not so much the 1320.
