Optima Battery

I was wondering if any of you have an Optima battery on your Z. I am in the market for a new battery and I noticed that the Optima has opposite posts that the original battery terminals possibly wont reach. I dont want to relocate or spend for new terminals I just want a nice easy exchange.
If you do have an Optima is it a red or yellow top?
Thanks..... Ed

Not worth buying. If it's power you need, get an alternator upgrade.

hawker odyssey PC680 battery
it weighs 13-15 lbs depending on if you get the heat shielded one or not (I think it's worth it)
yellow top optima weighs about 25 lbs
stock is around 35 lbs
It has less voltage. Not good for stereos
If you left your ignition in the "ON" position and ran the stereo or left your headlights on, you'd drain the battery in about 18 minutes.
It's tiny compared to stock. You have to create a custom battery holding bracket.
It's actually more of a motorcycle battery, but people run them in their cars and have no issues. So yeah I guess you could say it's a racing battery

i bought the redtop, didn't know about the reverse terminals though, i so i had to buy the extenders (looks like a big mess, but luckily there it's covered by the battery cover).
Do you think they'll accept the exchange after 1 week use?

So they make R (reverse terminal) ones? The yellow top one they had, which they said might work... was smaller, yet taller. dunno

sorry...i gotta renew this thread, since I don't want to start a new one...
what kinda of modification did ya have to do to fit the optima yellow top D35 into your Z, if you get the reverse terminal? if you get the regular terminal?
I'm still a bit confused here...some are saying the yellow top are deep cycle battery, meaning they are charged, used, drained, and THEN they can be charged again...so what would happen if you do not drain the battery completely...will that shorten the life of your battery? I don't plan to blow up my system everytime I get into my car, so is it wiser to get the red top? I'm just looking for a decent battery to run a small alpine 5 channel amp and 10" MTX, not any competition sound, and I don't want to f*ck up my HIDs or anything due to the amp drawing power from the stock battery....I just want to drive down the street and not have my HIDs flickering due to my sound system...
sorry if these questions don't make sense or common, I don't know much about car audio

I had a yellow top optima.. I currently have a red top 34R
The yellow tops are supposed to be able to discharge and recharge many times without affecting it's usefulness.. <-- i don't find that they deep cycle very well to be honest... The red tops have more cold cranking amps but are not deep cycle.. If you listen to your car system with the motor off a lot then, yellow top is probably better for you.. if you don't daily drive your car (aka. let it sit for days and weeks) especially in a cold climate.. the red top is probably better
