Is there any way of putting a light under the ashtray in the console? The ashtray has a little window to let light in. If you are going to rip me for being a smoker, e-mail me and rip me, but keep it off the forum please. Thanks.

 

There's a thread about a DIY kit for LED's in the front reflectors you should check out. If you can find a wire in the harnesses close to the ashtray to splice into, you should be able to mount an LED in that location.

I had my dealer install the "Smoker Package" last week, and I recently also noticed the window in the ash tray. It seems that for the .75 Hours labor charged for the install, I got ripped off BIG time. Lets see, .6 seconds to switch to the ash tray, and maybe 1 minute to swap the socket.........at least they could splice into the Hazard indicator light to light the ash tray!?!?!

Any ideas on a "usable" location for a lighter?

 

ya know..that is not an ashtray in the console! I too am a smoker, that tray is lined with felt...not smoker friendly! Just my observation!

A connector and mounting exists. Just remove console piece and install.

 

VaGentleman, The coin holder gets removed, and a "Proper" ash tray is popped in. Courtesyparts sells the tray and has a photo on their website.

Does the ashtray come equipped with a lighter or power point? I am really intereted in getting one if it does so I could plug my Radar Detector in it so the cord doesn't have to strangle my passanger like it does now. I noticed ultimate Z has one listed but the courtsey parts site lists one without any lighter socket??

 

So you get an ashtray or you get a coin holder? Do you get a lighter or whatever that thing is called - or are you just plain out of luck? (I'm a non-smoker, just wondering)

 

I ordered the "smokers Package", or whatever it is called, when I took delivery. It arrived at dealer a little over a week ago, and I had it installed last Monday. It included an ash tray to replace the coin holder, and a lighter element with a higher capacity "female" receptacal. It just fits where the standard power plug is/was. The little door does NOT close now, with the element in place. VERY Bogus.......The mechanic who installed it thought so also(was his first), and he called NNA to confirm.

My suggestion is to buy the ash tray & the Zippo Z lighter from Courtesy.

 

I bought the ashtray, bought the bulb, and keep my lighter in the useless sunglass holder.
