stock gear ratio is 3.3 for auto and 3.5 for 6mt. i think most shops charge around $400-500 for install. usually you need to buy different sized shims to make it fit. some vendors sell complete kits to make it easy. shoot some PMs to some vendors for more info.

also, i have read it offers 10% more acceleration in each gear

For the pricing questions, the best way to go about it is to contact multiable vendors in your area.

i'd want to do gears but it would cost just as much to install the gears as to the price of the gears themselves..
i think replacing gears one should either break the stock lsd(or to sell it) to upgrade the lsd too (cusco?)

The best way (price wise) to do internal mods is to decided what mods you want, cams, final drive, headers, etc....and then have the install all done at once.

the best way is probably this...
do not mods but save $
then once you saved money for cams, gears, and FI you'll probably have about 20000 dollars...
then you invest in my uber money cash project
yielding you 10-15% a year to do mods

anyway...

You should first determine what exactly your performance goals are and keep your budget in mind. Here's a thread that you should check out:

https://my350z.com/forum/engine-and-drivetrain/50429-new-350z-owners-read-this-before-doing-any-modifications-to-your-z.html

If you plan on staying NA the 3.9 gears are a great choice. Yea, the cost of the install is about as much as the gears. It cost me about $1400 total including the shims and all. Not too bad considering I could have easily spent that on a catback exhaust and gotten no where near the performance IMO. If you don't track the car very often the stock diff. will work fine. I've had no problems whatsoever and am more than happy with it.
