Default How does a new tranny feel to drive?

i was wondering how a new transmission feels in a Z, I got a "03" and i don't know if the tranny is going bad or if its new? Its pretty stiff, not as smooth, it grinds when i slam it into 3rd gear only when i slam it never when i drive regular. or if i downshift from 4th to 3rd really fast.hmm... the clutch feels real tight i dunno what it could be. any ideas?

Go to the Nissan lot and drive a new Z.

Grinding means your tranny is shot and need a new one, or the clutch is shot and not completely disengaging. Where does the clutch engage? Off the floor?

That's what my tranny was doing and I had Nissan replace it on warrenty back in September. Difference is night and day. Now it's very nice. I also had them put in a new clutch and I paid for the clutch part's. Clutch engagement position is a lot better now. Everything sounds and feels great now.

If your synchros are bad... grinding when shifting and you are in warranty then it's free.

If your out of warranty then it's about $3000 parts and labor. If you install a new clutch as well which you should then it's $4000-$4500
