Going for new dyno run this Saturday morning!

Previous best hp/tq = 259.8 / 243.0 with only JWT pop-charger, Crawford plenum, Stillen dual exhaust and grounding kit

New Mods: Stillen headers, Nismo cams, test pipes, UR pulley, CM flywheel, custom TS ECU reflash, colder plugs

I'll post new results by Saturday evening.

Okay, new results... somewhat disappointing for all the time, money and effort.

Best HP/TQ = 279.0 hp / 257.0 ft-lb (SAE corrected on a Dynojet)

I had hoped for at least 285 hp with all those mods. Oh well... I guess either a UTEC or FI is in my future.

About 19whp and 14tq at peak... what about the low and mid-range? I'm suprised with cams in there that you didn't gain more.

knight, those are good numbers, they would be 300hp on a dynopack that a lot of people use on this forum. dynapack is like 20-25 hp more than dynojet. a stock revup z dynos 270 on a dynopack. and like 240-250 on dynojet.

Heck those are good numbers *IMO. I got nismo headers/cams, crawford plenum, kinetix test pipies, borla TD, UR pullies, and JWT intake and I only did 263hp/247tq on a dynojet.

Midrange is similar to before, maybe very slightly better, but I definitely lost some tq on the bottom end (like from 2000 to 3000 rpm). But the car is quite a bit faster on the track (an extra 7mph at the end the straight at FIR), so for me, the trade-off is worth it. Just was hoping for more...

Wow, Juztin, you have very similar mods. I guess I am surprised that you are not making more hp/tq... I know every dyno is different. How carefully did you break-in the engine? (People may think I'm wrong, but IMO, that often has some bearing on the results).

I will start by saying I have not made 300hp as I don't own a z(soon to change:-D), but I have a question. With all of the N/A enthusiests, why havn't more people gone with the stroker kit upgrade. I'm fairly certain I read it will take the car up to 4.2L, and that was with low compression pistons, meant for F/I. I had read into it a wee bit and some of the negs were to pricey and to many complications(what else is new). Starting with E.M. down to new cams. Most people on here have spent copious amounts of money going F/I, and N/A. So why is this option seem to be the black sheep of the community. Is it purely a lack of return on investment or other(and more likely) reason's I'm not knowing about. It seems I'm seeing more and more people with built short block's so why not just add the stroker, sure this started as a response to N/A but if your trying to get every last pony out of the VQ then why bypass this option, and even more so for the F/I crowd??? If done right, more displacement can't hurt right? Everyone has different goals, and they have different budegets which is a huge factor on those goals, so this next statement won't be for everyone. If your gonna build your motor what so ever, F/I or N/A, why is the stroker kit not a more popular option?? I did search this topic before I did this reply so I really hope I didn't miss something crucial.

P.S. I don't like to post genrally and I've been wanting to address this where most people could read it, for the ease of everyone trying to learn and not sift through hours of off topic B.S. consider what your about post and think "Does this post belong in this thread" b/c alot of post's could easly be put into another thread or not posted at all. The search and archive link are really sweet wink wink, not to mention the P.M. feature is uber cool as well. Also out of all the other z forum sites that I've been at(which I was surprised to see alot of you regulars are also on) my350 is by far the best and you guys are what make it great. Sorry I didnt want to get all chick flick like but I have huge respect for most of you. Lastly I only hope that I purchase my Z before that new fast and furious comes out because we all know what happened with the supra. I guess it didnt happen with the eclipse or the s2000 but when all the sheep/16yo punks with rich mommy and dadies see what an allstar car like the Z can do, the market will be like trying to get an xbox 360 for christmas. P3@c3 out fellas sorry if I rambled to much:-(
