Talking Just dropped off my car at Scott Performance

well i finally dropped my car of at Scott Performance today. I'm so excited! i can't help myself. They're putting in their customs grind cams with titanium valve springs and hopefully they'll be able to churn my car to that lofty 8000 redline. Ted said that he knows i can safely go to 7500 no problem and that he even thinks that it can go to 8000 safely but is going to ask an engineer tommorow just to be sure. he also said that the car will be able to make at LEAST 300rwhp but he's shooting for even higher #'s maybe in the 315-330 rwhp range. he also said that if he can't bring it all the way to 8k, he would give me a great deal on some new pistons, rods, and maybe even up to compression ratio. anyways, i'll keep you guys up to date on what is going on! thanks!

Good luck, chichi. They may be able to upgrade your valvetrain to withstand 8000 rpm, but if you have the 287hp engine, your going to break a rod bolt and your engine will be done. Please don't do this! Check out this thread on how to reach 8000 rpms safely - https://my350z.com/forum/na-builds/159519-photos-on-engine-rebuild-n-a.html

Regards.

what kind of engine management are they using to get 300+ rwhp? What other mods do you have?

That's a ton of work! Has the shop done a zillion of these? Since SP plans to push the engine beyond where Nissan's Engineers ever qualified VQ35 there is considerable risk. What other parts will SP upsize for durability? For a few more $ you could have a reliable SC without entrusting a shop to open Z surgery, yeah but that would be boring. I look forward to your exciting updates.

have them change out your headers while your at it! i have read borla headers offer little if any gain, some have even lost power with borla headers.

well i told ted to have the redline set at 7500. he said that if i go to 8000 it was borderline on whether or not the other stock internals could take it. oh well, a little short of my goal but will still be nice to hear the VQ go to high.

That's great. I have faith that he can break the 300whp N/A bearier. 315 seems like a rather steep expectation, I'll never believe 330 without going deep into the block. But you will be happy with whatever he comes up with, for a while... Looks like you might beat me to the 300+ mark. I was going to do titanium valves next but i got some Brembo brakes instead. Enjoy!!!

Rev limiter is still stock. Springs and rev limiter would be next on my list.

Seat of the pant's is night and day compared to stock. You will have stock like idle, but you will have more power everywhere. These cam's make power to 9800 rpm. I can tell with mine that when I hit stock rev limiter it doesn't want to be over yet. It's like the top end is just getting started when I'm forced to shift because of the limiter. But the top end doesn't just turn on like a light switch because you still have all the extra power in the low/mid too. It's like the torque just runs into the hp up top. Your going to have a blast!!
