Variable Timing Control Ticking?!
Hey all... not sure if this is the problem... but here is whats happening
just got the car off the dyno pulled in a 400whp woot! but then outta no where we heard a slight ticking noise from the engine... It sounded like at first the pulley was hitting against something... but not sure what it was I drove it for about 1/2 a mile to see if it increased or decreased...
we noticed that it happened at idle randomly... and happened after reving the engine up...
we are guessing its coming from the Variable Timing Control area... anyone heard of this?!
I read a post saying this before...
"A few weeks after buying the car it started making a lite ticking sound from the engine at idle. I take it to the dealer, he says it's the VTC sprockets in the engine $1,800 for repair"
could this be the problem? anyways to tell? Jeff at tuning factory and I removed the first layer of the VTC area to see if any sprockets were broke but from the little we could see we didnt see anything...
any help is appreciated!

Well I dont know how loud it is, but my engine has always made funny noises. They are ticking engines best I can tell you. I would have to hear it for myself. Between my clutch/flyweel, cams, headers, etc I hear all kinds of little noises. I have noticed the VCT stuff is kinda loud anyway and you have VCT on both sides so it could be even worse for you.

maybe... but I dont think so... cuz the problem isnt constant at all... at idle its not even there at all... but will turn on randomly at times... but if i bumped to midrange RPM... then it will show up again! so to us we think VTC...
so gonna try...
1) New oil filter
2) Thicker oil... have the royal purple in there now
3) Could have to replace the VTC
just kinda ****ty cuz im broke after the TT install and all the goodies
anyone have any other recommendations?
