Man, I have got some good ideas here. I still need to drop some more weight (spare and jack) and install the iridium plugs and HKS Twin Power DLI II. If I can hit 30 with all that, I may forego that Civic I was looking at. What about fuel additives? Has anyone tried anything that could improve the mpg?

Getting the 300hp and ~ 22 mpg is great efficiency when you factor in ac and the high gearing we have. You want to save mpg? drop your gear ratio, but then you have a slow car imo.

Update!
After 5 months of driving, and a handful of mods, I need to update the results of my quest for better gas mileage.
I never installed the DLI-II - long story- so I can't say what effect it has on mpg, although I would bet it's positive. I was also not very scientific in that I did several of the changes at once, and can't say which mod did what.
After installing iridium plugs, Crawford headers, MREV2, APS plenum, and AAM HFCs to what I already had when I started this thread (K&N panel filter, JIC Y-pipe and Amuse R1000 titan), overall mileage went from mid 23 to almost 30. Intermittently mileage does vary, sometimes as low as 25, but I think it has something to do with my right foot.
In summation, the biggest 'positive' impact on fuel mileage is as shown below, in order.
1. Conservative driving and higher tire pressure,
2. Acetone mixed with the fuel, ~3oz/10gal gas,
3. HFCs, MREV2, APS plenum
4. K&N panel filter, iridium plugs and synthetic fluids (started off with Mobil1, but RP actually improved over that),
5. JIC Y-pipe, Amuse exhaust
6. Crawford headers
Some of the ratings were close, and the effects may be reversed if I retune for performance. Also, I feel the motor is still breaking in (~4600mi now). I understand some of the results, but not all of it, and I have done a lot of reading HERE.
