Default Oil Cooler. N/A Benefit?

I am considering getting the stillend oil cooler for 06 350z. I just got the car recently and am planning on basic bolt ons like exhaust, jwt pop charger etc. Would there be any disadvantage to getting an oil cooler with just simple mods?

Welcome to the forum.

Are you experiencing overheating problems?
Do you road race?
Do you tow a trailer?

If all above are no I don't see a need for a oil cooler.

You need more information to base a decision on. Make sure there is a need first. Install an oil temprature gauge, then monitor and record data under varying conditions. Oil is happy in the 180-200 degree range. If you do get one, make sure it has a thermostat (don't recall if the Stillen unit does or not). You don't want it too cool any more than you want it too hot.

i've got an 06 Z too and have tracked it 3 times in the month of may. its only going to get hotter out there in the high desert so i was thinking about this mod. i would rather get something that keeps my engine from blowing up than getting more hp to the ground right now. what are our options in terms of oil cooler and oil temperature gauge?

before I went FI, I had an ARC oil pan (7 qt. capacity) with a Defi oil temp sensor, which connected to the Defi controller. I have the Defi Display mounted in my nav cubby. I track my car (road course) and even with the added oil capacity, I'd see 260 F oil temps.

So I installed the N-Tech Engineering oil cooler http://www.ntechengineering.com/inde...=1&model_id=10 . For NA I'd say this is the best kit. It has a thermostat and a nice, custom and very strong mount. Also comes with a bypass kit if you wish to remove the stock oil cooler.

After I installed the oil cooler, highway cruising oil temps in AZ heat (100+) are 180F. My temps at the track get up to 230F, which is what I was expecting (30F drop).

Our cars have an oil cooler stock. If you notice the coolant lines running to the small cooler by where the filter mounts, there is a water to oil cooler there right where the oil filter screws on.

Not as effecive as an aftermatket im sure, but just thought I'd throw that out there since it has not been mentioned yet.

I'd go with arizzee and get the oil pan (baffled) first. The APS oil pan looks really good, fits and has many baffles. Then complement that with an oil cooler. If your in a cold environment then a thermostat like someone mentioned might be needed.
