Question for the 5AT experts

Yesterday I was using a 2006 G35 Sedan 5AT as a loaner while my car was getting serviced and I liked the "rev-matching downshift" feature on the newer 5AT (it was pretty cool to see the ECU "blip" the throttle before the tranny engaged a lower gear
). I am just wondering if this feature can be programmed (or added) to the older 5AT? I will love to have this feature on my 2003 5AT? Thanks.

I had a similar loaner car a few weeks ago. I liked the fact that in manual mode, it shifted itself into 1st gear at a stop. My tranny stays in its selected gear, even when I come to a complete stop. I have to "tap it down" to 1st gear myself. I'd like the new algorithms downloaded into my tranny, too.

Mine downshifts to 1st when stopped or rolling up to about 5-8 MPH. However, it NEVER has downshifted into 2nd. If I am in 3rd, and I slow down to about 8-10 MPH, it will stay in 3rd unless I manually downshift into 2nd.
This rev matching thing sounds kool. Anyone know if this can be changed on the earlier 5ATs?

On the loaner I used the other day, when I came to a stop, not only did the tranny shift into 1st gear, but the MM display also changed to a 1. As I rolled on the green light, I had to upshift as needed to higher gears from the git-go.
I like the new algorithm better.

You can have your dealer do a TCM reprogram. Since you have a 2003, it sounds like you have the older version of the TCM software. Talk to one of the master techs at your dealership, not the service advisor. The service advisor will confuse what you're asking for with the replacement part number for a new TCM. They can hook up the CONSULT-II and reprogram your TCM to version 31036-AL004 software for the sedan and the 31036-AL013 for the coupe.

oh sorry thought you were suggesting that for the people who were talking about how when in manual mode it doesn't downshift to 1st...
So you can actually get a software reprogram to allow for the rev-matching feature? Any idea on cost, because I'd love to have something like that. I used to blip the throttle when I downshifted in my old car so it wouldn't bog down.
