Default Need Clutch Advice for NA; What will stand up to the Abuse?

At the last trip to the drag strip, the clutch started slipping. On that particular day, it was in the high 90's, I was hot-lapping, and had beaten on the car for a couple hours before getting to the drag strip. Other than that night, it has slipped only once on the road. In that particular case, I had redlined first, then second, then mistakenly shifted to 5th instead of third. It was immediately accompanied by the typical clutch smell.

Anyway, I would like some recommendations on brands. The car is a year old now, and I have right at 25k miles. The car's had about 120 runs down the drag strip, and I beat on it daily.

I've *never* driven a car with an aftermarket clutch/fly, so I have no idea what to expect. Before anybody tells me to search, I have. I've been researching this topic for about two weeks now. Basically what I want is a clutch that I can beat on for as long as possible. I'm staying NA, so I'm not worried about something that can deal with 600rwhp. But I don't want to have to get another clutch again in the next year or two.

Considering my meager power output, is it unreasonable to expect an aftermarket clutch to last 50k+ miles to the type of abuse I will administer? I've seen plenty of threads from the FI guys about their clutches, but I don't know many people that have gone to the drag strip over 100 times in under a year.

Alberto/davidv care to chime in?

In NA form the JWT or NISMO clutch should suffice. The JWT has a higher clamp load but is slightly heavier, for the price you cannot go wrong. The NISMO is a little lighter but more costly. I would also upgrade your clutch line to the NISMO SS line and a higher boiling point fluid. My NISMO clutch tends to "stick" during very hot weather in Socal. I plan to change to the NISMO line myself with MOTUL RBF 600 fluid, should take care of the problem.

Wait, sorry for the thread jack, but what does it mean when your clutch 'sticks' (I'm talking about when it doesn't come all the way up off the floor)? I've only been driving stick for 4 months.. trying to figure out how to launch well, but my clutch will sometimes stick.

Does anyone think that the clutchmasters stage1 (organic friction material) will stand up to repeated abuse over a few years? My understanding is that organic friction materials are very susceptible to glazing in high heat conditions; exactly what I want to throw at it.

Technically unless the dealer can prove your clutch/fw made your tranny take a dump no, it should have no affect. BUT-most dealers will not warranty a tranny with aftermarlet stuff installed, you could argue with them, but its an endless battle. My advice-just find a mod friendly dealer if you go aftermarket and have a tranny issue. Everybody and their grandma knows about our synchro problems a nice dealer will warranty you regardless....

My clutch is just about toast and my trany grinds when it goes into 6th gear almost all of the time. There is only about 11K miles on the car. So it looks like I will have to take it into get the trany looked at before I swap out the clutch/flywheel.

This is your chance. Dont know where in MD you are but go to Antwerpen Nissan in Clarksville, MD. They are mod friendly they have car shows 1X/month for us all there. Go in, tell them you have a known problem your synchros are bad. Order a clutch/fw and tell the service manager you want the new equipment installed at the time of the tranny swap. New tranny, and new clutch/fw all in one....

With 42,000 miles and my third season drag racing, my original clutch is fine (knock on wood).
