The ecu right now is setup so it eliminates that feedback ignition input. thus allowing everything you put on from now on, to benefit the car and gain the hp you should have gotten before w/o the ecu eliminating some of the power. the ecu is generally tuned to a point which makes good power over stock and will benefit from any modification you do from now on. obviously, heavy modifications after the ecu would probably mean a slight retune to maximize efficiency, but that would require personal dyno tune time... the program now would benefit your car if you left it bone stock. or if you added an intake, or added a ypipe or added an exhaust....

so adding your Borla exhaust should be just fine.

ECUs are mod friendly when you stay NA.... when you go forced induction, that is when that personal dyno tune time will have to be done....

Cheston, can you try and explain this to me as I can't quite wrap my head around it.

I realize that you changed the ignition timing and A/F mix and gained some nice power. But how do you stop the ECU from using the new curves as the standard by which to requlate the engines performance...i.e. how do you make the ECU more mod happy.

I plan on putting the Borla daul on my car, and it suposed to get some pretty good numbers, thats why I'm bugging you about this...

What octane fuel do you have there? They may have had to detune it for lower octane (just a guess).

we are optimizing the ECU for 91 octane.. Lol.. sorry eastcoasters.. but with your 93+ octane it will work very well..

so far. so good. no pinging with cali-spec gas... gas tested: chevron, Shell...

will test with mobil1 and 76 soon..

a slight delay in release... the head programmer is hand-carrying the automatic ECU to Japan for his next visit next week so we can release all programs at once..

the Track/Touring/Enthuiast 6speed version is pretty much ready...

just need the Base and Autos....

there will be an introductory pricing available... retail is set lower than $600.00... ( a great deal compared to the ECU pricing over in Japan.. example: i think i read somewhere in HyperRev the hitech rom is listed at ~89000 yen.. )

What would an extra ECU cost assuming we want to keep the stock one as a spare?

Jason: haha. sorry. yea. performance too i believe.

Rstark: you would have to get one yourself from the dealer. if you wanted a spare.

myinfinitig20: as far as shift points. thats is controlled totally by a different computer. you would only need to reflash it if you went boost. this will work well with all modifications.

Cheston, did you guys move the feul cutoff point. Im quite content with the polite shift light telling me i redlining not a very rude jolt.

Moving it to 7000rpms would be fine.

But, is that a replacement ECU? Or just programing? $500+ would be a lot just for programing an ECU. I'm sure it took a lot of R&D, but how long does it take to flash it? 89000 yen isn't that bad if you get a replacement unit.

89000 YEN is for reflashing too. NOT complete unit...

500+ is normal for ECUs... check out JWT's pricing for the Z32 and Hondata for their systems.

but like it said.. there will be an introprice setup..

Will there be local distributors that can do the reprogramming or will the only way be sending the ECU out there?
