Default Non-voiding Mods...

i have been reading this site for 3+ months now, waiting for my car to come in. It is being delivered in exactly 12 days and i am incredibly excited. The car is leased, but i still wish to put some personal touches. Would anyone here be able to give me a list of things that will not void my lease and/or warranty. For instance CAI...etc..

Thanks for the help!

P.S Expect an email from me soon insaneamine =)

the only mod i've done in my car is the grounding/earthing kit. It doesn't void warranty. Its also an option in japan, just like leather seats, airbags, ect...

LEASE and warrenty are a different thing. in a lease I believe you must return the car in the condition you bought it in. or buy out the lease. generally leasing is not conducive to modifications.

however the law states that for a warrenty, the dealers is responsible for proving that the modification is the cause for the problem. in this case if you put a wing on, and the struts in the hatch broke, they would have a case. if you through a rod, then no, the wing wouldnt be at fault, but if you had a turbo and threw a rod, they could and would blame it.

It would void your credibility as a Z owner.

How would it void my credibility as a Z owner? I personally think that the nismo wing looks awesome. Its subtle but does the trick.. Not too incredibly ricey, but nice looking all at the same time. Im not saying i want to throw an Alluminum salad bar on the thing. But that is besides the point, i wasnt asking your opinion on my decisions. I was asking about it, regarding voiding the lease/warranty.

on the lease front, consult your dealer. Im assuming they will be responsible for taking the car back and reselling it, so its up to them if they want a modified car for sale(remember, mods decrease resale value in most cases) and the wing should be bolted through the deck, so you cant just remove it like you could an intake or exhaust.

*personal opinion* why are you looking to modify a leased car? you dont own it, you dont get to keep it. modifications are rarely a good idea, and they can only be kept reasonable if you plan on keeping the car, which in a lease, is out of the question. unless you plan to buy the lease out, in which case you could have saved money and bought the car from the get go.

i have been thinking about it more and more.. and i think i am gonna keep it simple. maybe just a CAI and Grounding kit... I understand what your saying, and i have thought about the final result with bringing it back to the dealer. So thanks for the info and my final question would be about stereo equipment, which definatly doesnt void a lease, correct?

any aftermarket electrical components will void a lease. also a cai and grounding kit will void the lease. however, you could just remove them whenever you go to the dealer.

again Id run it by the dealer, he might not mind you giving him an aftermarket stereo, thats one mod that might help resale. I believe it is up to him to determine if its allowed or not.

run the intake idea past him while your there.
