Default 06 Nissan oil problems

I caught a news segment on TV last night about some 06 Nissan engines experiencing abnormal oil loss. About 35 engine fires have resulted from engines with little oil left. They said Nissan hasn't solved the problem yet and recommend owners check their oil every 800 miles until a fix is found.Anyone have more info?

You don’t have to change it, just check the dip stick (do it a couple times to get an accurate reading). I am going through an oil consumption test currently, for my 03 with only 25k miles on it. My cousins ford explore with 200k miles doesn’t burn up oil like my Z.

Those are only the 2.5 altima engines within a certain vin # range. Your 350 is not included in that same scenario. Neither are the 2.5 frontier engines. Nissan is supposed to check the oil then in a few hundred miles you go back and if there is oil loss found they(if your car is in the vin# range) warranty the engine. They extended those engines to 100,000k.

some 06 350Zs are having oil consumption issues. Search "consumption" and read all about it...

I just changed mine this past weekend. After driving @ 5500 miles on Mobile1 5w-30, it only lost a VERY small amount. Nothing significant at all. The car now has @ 7000 miles.
