I want to know more info on how to go about a transmission rebuild. Probably cryo treat and shot peen the gears and syncros. Has anybody ever done it? What's the estimated price?

My transmission lately got a 5-6 gear grind. I did take it to Nissan and they said they'd fix it (hesitantly) but they have to tear apart the transmission and let Nissan decide what's to be done(new syncro or new tranny) which i think is bull**** and a waste of my time that they wont know what to do. This is my only car. I will be going FI in the future.

So basically they're taking out my tranny, tearing it and they have no clue what to do with it until Nissan gives word because Nissan isn't doing anymore complete overhauls. My car is also slightly modded and i'm afraid of dropping it off so they can tell me to pick it up because they refuse to do warranty work on it. Can anybody confirm this for me as well? Thanks.

 

If you are under warranty make them replace with new one!! Or go to another dealer! Never heard of them taking the time to rebuild. I was in and out pretty much same day, no questions asked! They have to prove your mods caused the tranny to go. And considering hwo many thousands of trannys have been replaced cause they are just crappy from the factory, they shouldn't be surprised, it's just one more warranty tranny, they don't loose any money. If this was like your 5th tranny and you were heavily modded, then i would worry. But they should take care of you.

What dealer did you take it to Zexy? Ive never heard of taking apart the tranny and waiting for a nissan rep to come out and tell us what to do.

 

Reed I called Classic and they said they'll do the same.

I called NNA to tell them that this is outrageous. They filed a report for me and I was supposed to get a call today but didn't receive one. Hopefully on monday.

 

What the??? A nissan rep might come out and drive the car to see what to replace but we do not rebuild transmissions, I have yet to see anyone do that and Ive been working at the dealer for almost 4 months now.

 

What dealer do you work at? Do you think you can help me out man??
