Default oil temp sending unit mounting?

HI,

I did a search and found very little.

IM wondering where might be the best location to install the oil temp sending unit for my oil temp gauge. I have an A-pillar pod set up and need to do the install.

So far im leaning to removing the stock oil pan and welding in a bung off one of the sides?

what are others out there doing? pics if you have them?

thanks,
Jason

Makes it very simple and gives you a provision for aftermarket oil pressure down the road too

Anyone else ? I already have an oil sandwich adapter like that. but it only has inlet and outlet for my oil cooler install. thats the reason im looking for an alternate oil temp sending unit install..

now that i think about it? what about the water temp sending unit? where has anyone been mounting that?

I recommend an oil pan spacer like the Jim Wolfe or Altered Atmosphere. Put the sender in the spacer and get more oil capacity to boot.

What if the oil sending unit probe is 1.2 inches in length? i doubt that oil sandwich adapter 1/8 NPT port is that deep.

it seems like the oil pan spacer is the way to go...

I've never seen a temp sensor with 1.2 inches in length...I wouldnt want that hanging out in my block, lest it break off. The gauges we sell mainly (Defi, etc) temp sensors are very small

I've gone back and forth on this as well. I think I'm going to go with the AAM oil pan spacer since it's already tapped for sending units/ oil return lines.

Z1Auto & Mynismo have about the same prices. About $150 give or take.

nope, the pan spacer method works just fine, I'd just be worried about the potential for a sensor that long to break and get kicked around the inside of the block that's all.

let us know if you need either one
