Default Engine Identification! HELP PLZ?

Hi,

I found a VQ engine at a shop and i was wondering is there anyway to get a serial number off of it or something like that inorder to identify what viehicle it came off of, or what model VQ it is. it would be great if it was from a Z!!!

I took a few good long hard looks at it and the plenum and other disstiguishing features looks like a Z engine..........the shop didnt know what it came out of.

thanks for your help.

My .02 is to call a Nissan Dealer and ask them
where to look for VIN number on the engine block if
there is one, not sure but you never know. Hope that
helps!

Found this too... good luck!

You can get the VIN # from several places. The usual place is the dash on the drivers side. It's also stamped onto a flat section along the back of the firewall and it's on the sticker on the door jamb of the drivers door. There is an engine serial number on the back passenger side of the block but I don't believe it's the same as the VIN #.
