Default Engine Dampener Installed!! pics!

I installed the stillen engine dampener today and i can definitely tell you there is a difference. The car shifts 100x smoother, and eliminated any clunking there was in the gearbox. Ill rev the car hard to 6-7k rpms and the engine will sit in its place without any flex. Its very wet in NY right now, so i can not say if it has helped with the wheel hop or if the low end pulls harder. Install was not bad at all, as opposed to what many people say. I installed it within 45 minutes with the help of my girlfriend lol. I would not be afraid of this install, if anyone is wondering. This would strongly recommend this mod.

nope. no drilling. i pulled the power steering fluid dipenser, and the coolant box for easy access. But the brackets bolt up to oem holes.

i just posted about this. make sure your adjusting nuts are tightened periodically or throw some locktight on those...they can come loose.

i miss mine and hope that stillen will replace or repair mine under warranty.

Congrats, and I have one as well. Pretty easy install, only thing that sucked for me was that my power steering cooler hoses have been cut and shorten a couple of times so lifting it out of the way required me to get a second pair of hands.

But if your power steering has never been touched, easy install and worth it. Cause the motor would def. move quite a bit when revving. And after the Stillen Trq. Dampener, the motor barely moves.

Question, so do you think this would be better or the same as putting in solid motor mounts? I assume they pretty much do the same thing: i.e. reduce engine movement under hard acceleration?

Reason I ask, is because I initially wanted these, but due to the engine build we decided to go with solid motor mounts to handle the massive amount of torque the engine was putting out. I know the motor mounts requires more work, but for me since, the engine was already out... figured might as well.

Thanks,

Solid motor mounts are a better solution, primarily because you won't change them again if you put solid units. Plus your motor is already out so you might as well change them.

Reason I chked this thread was the solid question ---I was leaning more towards them----Also ---The solids lower the motor somewhat so u can if u want go 1/2 Motordyne with out strut replacement

I believe Nissan spec'd semi-soft motor mounts in to keep your teeth from falling out? The VQ vibration is pretty noticable IMO... To compensate for this trq. movement, I also installed a trq. damper. It seems to have cut my motor movement in half, if not more...

Yes, that was my concern at first. BUT, having done a lot of modifications to my car (already have test pipes and open dumps that make enough noise to cover the clatter of my lightened flywheel/clutch combo and any squeaking/clacking from my coilovers and LSD).
I have talked to a couple of people that have the solid mounts and they said that I probably won't notice it much when coupled with all of my other mods. I also keep my coilovers on their hardest settings and now want to switch to Tein Flex's because I think the CS's are too soft for my HP levels.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Good info on this thread. I just ordered my Stillen dampener yesterday. Why not? It's not very expensive and it's an easy install. I'm excited. LOL.

Hi, i'm very new to the modding scene. I've had my Z for about 2 months now, its an 05 auto. I like it, but i want to get a little more out of it. I'm thinking about getting an ED because it seems to be an easy install. Will this increase performance, or just reduce engine movment?

So it really makes that much of a difference huh. Does make shifting any smoother easier as well?? I just might order one as a....thanksgiving gift....for the Z.
