Most 75w-90 will work, I use Royal purple max gear 75w-90 and its ok. Some people just run Mobile and a friction additive. If you want something really good look at http://www.forgedinternals.com/store/home.php?cat=278
Just a tip tho, the wear and tear you will experience the first couple hundred miles should be with a cheaper oil. After a few miles the gears should be broken in and then you can use a more expensive oil. You should see a little bit of metal shavings on the drain plug and thats normal
If the gears aren't set right you could hear a whining noise. I don't recall what the noises represent but after looking at one disassembled its easy to see that someone who doesn't take their time to insert the right shim's can screw you, and at 12.50 a shim's ( prices could be cheaper now) some shops may take a cheaper route and reuse the previous shim's and bearings. Not trying to scare you just inform you.

Use whatever gear oil is appropriate for your differential. The 3.917 doesn't require a special oil, its still a regular pinion and ring gear. The regular gear oil the Nissan dealership uses is perfectly acceptable unless you have an aftermarket diff that requires something more advanced.
Even if the lash and alignment is perfect and everything is shimmed properly, you will still experience gear whine. I only hear it around 40 mph on deceleration, but I have it and my diff was completely rebuilt with all new shims and perfectly adjusted by Frank from AAM. So if you get gear whine, don't be upset. It doesn't mean something is wrong.

I am using Nissan's regular gear oil in mine, but because I was experiencing some whine my dealer put in an additive to help reduce the whine. I still hear some whine, especially when it is cold outside before everything gets up to operating temperature. Otherwise it is not really something you notice.
