oil change at the dealer
I will have my first oil change this weekend at a local infiniti dealership, the guy said $45 with regular mobil oil and a car wash. Im thinking of bringing my own oil and filter that will total of $24 (mobil oil, K&N filter) and have them do the labor, any idea how much they will charge me????

That's pretty expensive. My dealer charges $23. Most of the local quick-change places charge around $26 and with coupons, there's a place I can get one for $21.
DIY is one way to go, just make sure you keep receipts for the oil and document when you do each oil change. If you ever have engine problems, that will be the first thing to come back and haunt you if you don't have good records.

YES, perfect response. Just do the oil yourself and forget the dealer. And don't use the excuse, the cars too low, just do it. Who knows you may like it and then want to do more to the car yourself. At least then you know what actually went on with the car.

With the number of oil burners important to have a legal oil change receipt every 7500 miles or 180 days. Company letter head, VIN, and date + viscosity of oil and filter info and signed by someone who can be contacted.
Nissan is requiring owners PROVE they lived up to the written minimum for engine replacements.
A receipt for oil and filter doesn't mean it was actually installed on the purchase date or even on the car in question.

yup.. hell at this rate my car has about 3500 miles and has had two oil changes.. well oil added.. not a lot left to drain..
But $45 is way too much unless they're using synthetic..

but do you have to worry about your dealer voiding your warranty if you have mods while they do the oil change? Do they take notes on what mods you have?
Thanks,
Shaun

NoVa? Is that in CANADA? If so... $45 Canadian is not horrible... Check and see what else is included with their oil change...
At our dealer... Oil changes with conventional oil are $29.95 plus tax and hazardous disposal fee... Synthetic is $59.95 using Mobil 1 or Motul 8100 or Valvoline Syntec...
If you bring your own oil, it is $13.95
Car washes are optional and complimentary...
Included with our oil changes is the addition of a bottle of M.O.C. Windshield Washer solvent as well as tire air pressure check and fill, and basic 30 point inspection...
NOT doing services at a dealer will NOT void a warranty... but, not doing the Minimum service advised may... (Minimum services are what is notated in the owners manual, (oil change basicly)...)
