It has taken a few people on here about a month or so.

I called NNA like 2 months back and filed a complaint. I basically wasted my time.

so your V2 was consuming, you called NNA, and they did nothing?

Yup. They filed my complaint and that was it. Then the regional Nissan guy was supposed to get in touch with me 3 weeks ago to ok yet another engine replacement but he never did. So now im taking things to the next level.

OC TEST UPDATE:

first 1000mi test result = down 1.5 quarts

second 1000mi test result = down 1.5 quarts

third 1000mi test result = down 3 quarts

–my engine has been ordered and should be here next tuesday. in case anyone is wondering, i've been going to "superior nissan" for my OC tests. they're pretty cool about it and didn't hassle me about my mods, but i did bring it in w/out my pop charger just in case. they did, however, manage to scrape up my ts rear diffuser and v2 front

I had to call them back yesterday because they never ended up calling me.

When I originally called last week it happened to be the same time the system was down for updating. I know sounds fake but I actually believe them. The lady mentioned it to me last week and i guess never put it into the system to generate a ticket. Finally spoke to someone else who verified the system was updating at that time and put in a ticket for me yesterday. Guaranteed that someone would contact me today and apologized for the inconvenience.. So I am still waiting.

This is my 2nd engine in the car including the original.

I may have missed it if someone else had posted it already. However, I was just wondering how much will they buy it back for? Is it the current market price?

When was your car originally bought? Like the first owner if you are not him.

Seems I just missed my lemon law window by a month. You get 2 years from original purchase date and I was too late. So now im stuck with this car until I can trade it in for something better.

Everyone else has 2 months left until the 2 year window is up, depending on when the car was purchased.

I am in the process of getting the consumption tested... pretty sure my warranty is void as heck anyway since I broke my axle (still unknown how, they deemed it abuse, I deemed it bull$hit). So, if it consumes, then I am going to tear into the engine, put high compression pistons, much better rings, and bore the utter heck out of it, and see where that puts me. the soot on the tailpipes point to OC, but I don't think I am all that low on oil after 2k miles...

During the break-in period of the V2 I had a lot of consumption and had to top up. But between 1000-2000 I con't driving it as break-in period. I'm at 2000mi now and have no consumption. Still have 1000mi to go before the first oil change. I wonder if an extended break-in period (more than 1200) help in less oil being consumed.

I did break-in period for first 3750mi and changed my oil three times during (first 3750mi = 20mm total OC). Now ~5200 on my V2 with minimal OC. 1450mi @ only ~4mm down since last oil service. Been using 10w-30 blend the whole time.

But my V2 started detonating around 3K, just like my old VQ did. WTH Going to try an ECU re-set and see if that helps.

Wow...no OC now at 2K...not bad.

Mine detonates sometimes too. Same thing with my V1. Under full throttle it goes away, its just under light load.

Exactly!! Light to semi-moderate with me. And worse on hot days and even worse when engine completely heat soaked from sitting for a bit and then start driving again. My A/F alpha numbers okay more or less, but bank 1 is 1% over the max % of where detonation can start. This was at idle too, not under load like I asked dealer to perform that Consult II test. Morons

I know OT...sry all

Nismo, you going for go for another V2?

Think I read in here somewhere about it depends when you started the documentation of OC. Can't remember if that pertained to the $$ buy-back amount formula and/or slid you in under Lemon Law due to WHEN you first reported/documented this continuing issue that still hasn't been fixed. Think it depends on what State too. You might want to research your Lemon Law for your state or maybe your regional BBB could give you the 411 around that. Lots of good buy-back/lemon law info in here, but it's buried within all these pages somewhere lol.

I had a lawyer working on my case. Down here in FL its 2 years from the original purchase date which was in 8/06. I had OC problems starting in June of 08. Had my V2 put in towards the end of July. Had more OC problems in August and Sept. According to the law down here, I would of had to start and turn in all documentation to Nissan or BBB before the month of Aug. And I didnt have enough work orders by then. I had 2 OC test work orders then the V2 swap order. Then 3 OC test work orders for the V2 and a second V2 swap order during and after August.

I didnt get a lawyer involved until end of Sept. So now im stuck with the car and just have another V2 installed and save up enough so I can trade this car in for something better.

first off, just wanted to thank everyone for the helpful tips/procedures/info about the OC problem and solution. without you guys, i'd still be out burning oil as well as monies needed for much funner things.

UPDATE:

failed 3/3 OC tests, got a yaris rental (free of charge, just paid gas–$10) for 2.5 days, got my Z back earlier today with a V2 and 39miles in, smells clean

also had clutch petal pressure problems and a retarded-window motor that they fixed/replaced under warranty while it was getting the swap.

conclusion...$10 = new engine, clutch master cylinder, window motor,

–one question, was anyone else asked by the dealer to keep the speed under 60mph for the first 500miles?

Not mine. Just drive it normal I was told haha...what's normal ;-)
I did factory with a slight modifcation to their break-in method and up untill 3750mi, not 1200mi.

Yea, my V2 has started detonating as well. Also under light load, and always if I allow the RPMs to drop in a higher gear and don't downshift. Other than that, the more miles my V2 gets the smoother and more fun it is to drive. Last oil change improved from the previous change, only used 1 quart in 4,000miles. If this change is the same or less, will probably just drive the **** out of it and enjoy it. Tired of all the hassels.
