I'd like to contribute having just gone through the repurchase settlement, and can provide to save time for anyone who is about to read, read, read..lol

CA Tire Fee

Dealer Doc Fee

Usage Fee = (x miles on car on first visit/100,000) X Purchase Price

Payoff (if you have a lienholder)

Settlement Total
Awesome!! This needs to be linked to the first post on this looong thread.

Wonder if documentation that indicates 'customer states' about OC is a legal start point for that formula and not just when official OC testing started. Though I read it does, but maybe depends if Attorney was retained by customer assisting on buy-back...can't remember...

^ The laws vary between states; hence it would be mis leading information to post on the first page. The link on the first page to the BBB Lemon Law, per state is the best source. http://us.bbb.org/WWWRoot/SitePage.a...d-7a3e16e8da33

The above post can be bookmarked, although like I said, its better to look at the BBB website for your state laws.

Yes it is....at least in CA, it’s when you first report the oil consumption on a dealer service order. For example: “Customer states oil excessive oil consumption" something to that effect. This is when its recorded and the mileage is calculated from this. There are in addition other criteria to take in effect. I do not remember word for word it’s been awhile since I visited the LL for CA. Something like it needs to be recorded of the OC within the first 18 months or 18k miles whichever comes first. Don’t quote me on this, research it on the BBB.

OT....John, when are we and the wife going out to dinner? I am aching for some ribs. Do you want to caravan over to the Delta this Sunday for the ZONC club holiday banquet?

And even at that I assume they just changed to the V2 that also seems to have hit or miss issues? Has anyone in this thread done a detailed summary like the first post... THIS IS FANTASTIC INFORMATION!! Thanks
That turned out to be a myth (about the early mfg date models of the 06 rev up having OC) many have stated to having later models than the models first stated which had mfg date of Mar thru May/June.

If someone was in the market and just had to have a 06 for the rev-up, price or whatever, my suggestion would be to have a compression check done prior to any purchase of a 06 model or 05 anniversary model. Of course we are talking about manual transmissions only. As the automatics have the DE motor (287hp same as in the 03-05 models) The 06 MT is a rev-up engine and is a different engine than the DE. Just to clarify what engine is what, from a previous post.

Wasn't aware buy-back formulas were different between states, my mistake. Bookmarking...good idea and forgot about that. Hopefully I won't have to go down that road but if so, I"ll be looking good on that formula being I reported my OC to dealer with only 7700mi. on odo and now over 35K. That's documented on my paperwork and in their system way back then.

Chomping at the bit for my 2nd UOA report. Any day soon I should be getting.

Believe it's supposed to rain/snow this weekend. Real cold storm heading our way. Yes I said snow, even in low altitudes...crazy. It's a no-can-do for this Sunday, but thanx.

The wait is always the toughest, I hope the data looks just as good as your first one if not better.

Check the weather. You know how forcasts change day to day hour by hour around these parts.

UOA came in...it's better than last one

Working on posting in UOA thread now...keep your eyes peeled...DuraBlend 10w-30 has proven an excellent oil for my V2.

-edit- UOA is posted:

^ Cool beans....indeed it is better than the last one and better than mine.

Lets see what Resolute has to comment on.

The DuraBlend 10w-30 appears to be working better than the Pennzoil Platinum 5w-30 that I have been running on the last two oil change intervals. It is much better for an oil during the engine break in period, than conventional Castrol GTX.

I am going to post up my UOA on his thread for commentary. My oil was changed back on 11/10/08.

I still cannot believe how well your engine is doing in the short run (as in 6.5k mi on your engine) compared to mine in the long run (as in 15k mi on engine).

Thanks for all of your info John & Curtis!

I will be monitering what Will (Resolute) have to say and making my choice of oil for my next interval accordinly. I have finish the factory recomended break-in period. However, I will take your advice and continue to breaking it in a little longer, I may just go to 2000 miles on the break in and the start open her up.

I must say though, that I was burning 12MM in 1000 miles on the V1 and as of last week when I checked the oil level, I have burn maybe 7 drops on the V2. I will be checking my levels again after I finish making my coffee and I'll report back.

I am thinking on PP 5-30 or DB 10-30 depending on what Will says about your UOA's!

^Every V2 is different when it comes to what's going on inside and how it's breaking in.
Mine and Curtis's is a classic example of the differences in break-in on the same V2 replacement used.

Won't comment on you starting to romp at 2K miles.
Without a UOA, you have no idea if that's the right thing to do or not on yours yet.

^ +1

We (John and I) have been advocating used oil analysis (UOA) for some time now. But don’t take our word for it, just read Resolute’ thread for proof. With our regimental tune that Terry Dyson has us on, by someone else just using the same brand and weight oil that we are using, should NOT expect the same results. They maybe close for awhile, but will slip into the engine wear sooner or later, What we are doing is getting the correct tune to ensure the pistons and rings seal, increasing the longevity of the engine, with the least amount of fuel dilution and other elements that come about when just using particular type of oil. There are several other factors to look at and adjust. Only a UOA from Terry Dyson is going to give you peace of mind. My question to all is: What’s it worth to you? The time here spent reading, (what’s’ the old saying time is money) or just shell out the 60.00 bucks and have Terry analyze the oil.

Keep this in mind; by just switching to the oil that John and I have had success with is not going mean you are going to have the same success. There is more to our success than just getting the correct oil.

I strongly encourage everyone on this thread to get a UOA.

Cheers
Curtis

^^ I would definitly keep that in mind. Do I have to request the UOA kit from Dyson? Also, since I do have oil changes done by the dealer, how would they need to go about fetching me a sample. The reason why I ask is because I believe that Blackstone recomends fetching the used oil in the mid of the drainage as opposed to at the start. I also took your advise and got rid of my oil air filter and switched to a sylicone based air filter instead.

In other news... I just checked my dipstick after 1,455 Miles since the swap and it has burn only 3 MM. This is great news! Also, it seems to pull ever so strong up to 4,000 RPM than before on the V1. As a matter of fact, the other day my tire broke traction and my traction control kicked in and I was not even driving it hard yet. (I am not complaining)

^Yes order and pay for kit and will be mailed to you.
Just tell dealer you need them to take a sample while changing oil.
Blackstones recommendations on sample procedures are the industry standard.

Drive minimum 20min prior to servicing (like driving to shop for the service)
Tell dealer those standard sample procedures.
Make sure oil is hot when sample taken.
Sample mid drain duration.
Terry Dyson will take good care of you...

Price of his kit already includes lab analysis and his interpretation of raw numbers. If still confused, Email him....

Blackstone will still require a payment when you send in your sample for analysis from their free kit.

You still pay regardless how it's set-up.

Default Looking back at History: TSB finally released

I was researching the dipstick hash marks for someone on the G35 OC thread and noticed this post.

Funny how times flys!
