I personally only push Dino to 3750 and Synth to 5000. My dealer said 5K was more than fine when they used to service my G with Synth. My Infiniti manual states under 'normal op' conditions to service every 7500. Under 'severe op' every 3750. Technically, I could even run dino to 7500 and still be within powertrain warranty requirements, but I don't push any oil (Synth too) that far in these VQ's.
I've been using Mobil 1 Synthetic.

Infiniti coupes have no recall or TSB's on tranny syncros. Maybe someone with Nissan resource can check the Z's.
I've heard/read threads/posts these going out hear and there, but if under warranty it's taken care of.

well changed my oil this morning and to my surprise only a quart and a half came out when drained, my z is burning oil like its going out of style... Now that I have all the info I need and the TBS printed out I'll be heading to the dealer today. Keeping my fingers crossed that everything works out and I get a V2 and call it a day. I know that this will take more than 1 trip to the dealer but I hope they are cool and dont give me ****...

well, i have a similar issue, i had an oil change on 3/21/09. drove the car normally, noticed last night that my oil pressure guage was very very low while driving around and was bouncing when i made a left hand turn, it actually dropped to 0 then bounced up to again as i went straight, i checked my oil this morning and the dip stick was dry, just a few oil spots along the stick, i checked it over 10 times, and every time its was the same no oil on it the way im accustomed to seeing on a dip stick, just some oil streaks, so i left it home, got a ride to work, ought some mobile 1 put in 2 quarts and now see some oil on just the bottom tip of the dip stick not even close to the L mark....im screwed (out of warranty) any suggestions ?

Do you have over 60000 miles? Engine is powertrain and should have a default of 60000 miles warranty.

This maybe somewhat of a newbie question, but I've read quite a few pages on this oil consumption problem...I'm at 36,200 miles on my 06 rev up. I've only driven the car a good 1,000miles since I bought it. I've checked the oil quite frequently and haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary. Does this oil problem happen to all the revups? Or just certain ones?

It doesn't seem to happen to all of them. Nobody knows what the factor is that makes the engines consume or not consume oil.

Factory part change in the middle of the assembly year? Break-in procedure? Completely random? No clue.

Just keep an eye on your oil. Also look for black soot on the bottom of your exhaust tips.

Either swap in a different engine or get used to filling the car with a quart of oil every thousand miles.

cheshirecat79 - Thanks for the quick response and info. When I got the car, the bottom part of the tips were a bit black, (i think from neglecting to keep them as clean as the rest of the car) after scrubbing and getting them pretty cleaned up, I will definitely watch those and the oil. Thanks again.

Rings a bell and sounds right without looking it up.

He never said year/miles or did I miss that...

What exactly does the black soot on the bottom of your exhaust tips look like? Is it just black? Because my exhaust tends to get black under the tips, but I was told the Nismo exhaust tends to get dirty and do that.

Does anyone know if you can request to keep the engine the old engine that is swapped out? I know you have the option to do this on other components when repaired.

Never hurts to ask. Long time ago it was a no way, being they were sending those back to NNA techs to figure out why they failed (what I was told by my Infinitit dealer on my revup, so take that for what's it worth) Today could be a different story.
