oh of course they dont care. i think my next buy will be the audi tt. how can you go wrong with 2.0 turbo.

 

I love Audis & the turbo motor (had a 1.8 in my 2000 A3) but they have an insane ability to break 30 seconds out of warranty.

 

Prior 2008.5 (FSI type) = POS...own one in an EOS (oil consumption!!). After 2008.5 (TSI type) they got it right...just an FYI

 

So, lets just say I have this "oil consumption problem" no warranty, what do u guys recommend doing? replacing the small block? which I know thats not a guarantee from it happening again...so suggestions?

 

I bought my 06 from a Nissan dealer who said the motor was new and the problem solved. What they meant was it was solved for Nissan because they knew it would last 12,001 miles for certain and most likely 12 months.

They were right. It took 18k/ 18 months to fail.

I am building an engine with 100% aftermarket rotating parts. From what I have seen the issue is pistons or rings.

i recently been looking for a 6mt 350z/g35 and found a 2006 350z 6mt 68k miles.
i need some clarity, i called nissan north america and gave them the vin # they said that there is no outstanding recalls for it and i asked them if this car would be affected with oil consumption they said it shouldn't be. then i called a local nissan dealer and had them run the vin # and the said the samething. the 350z was built in September of 2005. anyone has had oil consumption with a september 2005 build??

i believe mine was built in august of 2005. nissan of america told me the same thing as well. i have been going back and forth to nissan with mine for eating 12oz every 500 miles. soooo yours might ahve the same issue lol

 

so i just got off the phone with nissan. they said my claim is suspended because i dont have any service records. the car has 23000 miles so pretty much they want proof that it has been given the 6 oil changes. since i have owned the car i was never really able to give it a "change" it was more of a fill. because every 3000 miles i would lose 3 quarts of oil. so i would buy and fill myself. along with the filter. how am i supposed to win this now?!

 

Call Nissan USA, say the motor is in warranty and has a known oc issue and demand they take care of it.

 

Since when is 3750 miles per oil change mandatory otherwise voids warranty? (3750*6= 22500mi). It doesn't!

My 2006 Infiniti maintenance schedule states oil service 7500 miles under normal op conditions. 3750 under severe or 'premium' service schedule. NNA should only be requiring proof of 3 oil services (3*7500= 22500mi).

However proof shouldn't matter at all. Infinities current TSB for same engine same issue (ITB08-002d), talks about oil service records or not on it's flow-chart (pg2). No oil service records on TSB doesn't deny you replacement if it falls into the NG on consumption chart following flow-chart. Not sure what Nissan TSB says, but I would hope it'd be the same flow-chart as Infiniti's.

 

Thats interesting, I've never noticed that in the 06 Infiniti maintenance schedule. Thanks for pointing that out. I use synthetic and was told I can change my oil every 4500-5000 miles, which I had been when I 1st started. However, I have gotten the OC test at the Infiniti dealer in MD. After my OC test, the service lady at Infiniti told me that even though I use synthetic, I should always change my oil every 3000-3500 miles. I explained to her that I really don't drive the car during the week much and don't drive it hard all the time. She explained that it didn't matter. The VQ motors loved eating up oil and wasn't uncommon. She went on how she had a Z06 Corvette. She uses synthetic oil and even though everyone recommends she change the oil in her Z06 every 5000 miles, she does it every 3000-3500. I'm sorry, its just kinda funny how the maintenance schedule says 7500, but Infiniti dealers tell us different.

 

It has been my experience most service writers are to cars like police to the law. (no offense to anyone) They think they are knowledgeable but in fact are not.

 

So I gave Nissan the work orders I had from my oil changes. I only had three since I put like 10000 on it. And they said that wasnt enough and I neglected to car. It has 24k on an 06! What do I do now!?

they said there is nothing they can do because there is no recall on my vin

 

I'd tell them this is a known issue and the car is within 6 years & 36k.

 

That is so remarkably unbelievable. Every time I hear that, I can't believe such a corp would turn their backs. I aspire to have a GTR one day, but when you hear such things, it makes you reluctant to buy any of their products, Nissan or Infiniti, whichever. Maybe I've should've bought an Acura or a Lexus.

 

I will never own another Nissan product due to this and I tell anyone that will listen not to.

 

when i was there they were trying to get me to look at the 370z (personally im not a fan because i dont like the way they feel) and i told them i would never own another nissan product. once hyundai drops the 5.0 in the coupe im gone!

 

LOL! Yeah, while they were doing a reading of my G's oil during the OC test one time, there was a G37S on the flooor...the sales guy was like, "what can I do to get you in that G37S?"....I was like, "I don't know if I want to get back in my G35!...nonetheless a G37S"

I like the IS-F, but man, my heart starts racing when I see the GTR....but then all that OC stuff starts reminiscing in my head and I think how Nissan is screwing their customers....sucks man!
